1 John 4: 9-12
In this the love of God is revealed to us, that God has sent the only son of him into the world in order that we live through him. In this is love, not that we have perfectly loved God but that he loved us and sent his son concerning the sin offering for the sins of us. Beloved ones, if in this way God has had love for us, then we also are indebted to continuously love one another. No-one has seen God at any time. If we are in the habit of loving one another then God is continuously abiding in us and the love of him is completed in us.
1 John 3: 16-18
In this we have come to love, that he gave up the life of himself for the sake of us and we are indebted to give up our lives for the sake of our brothers. That one, who has the life of the world and continuously sees the neighbor of him under the circumstances of having a need and closes his seat of his emotions away from him, how is the love of God in him? Little children, let us not love with the word and not the tongue, but rather in action and truth.
here endeth the confusion. till monday
ps, that last sentence is all sorts of screwy ... probably because of varying manuscripts ... bah
