Well, I know your name isn't Stan. But ... I figured since most of you have expressed an interest in seeing either Sarah or myself before we depart to the bitter North, I figured you would like to know what's going on...
Tomorrow : Monday January 1st 2007, I will be moving boxes into the garage to setup a staging area for the loading of a truck. The truck itself will not be here at that time, but it is important to get all of Sarah-Tom's stuff ready to load up as well as those pieces of furniture which have been graciously gifted to us by my parents. There's not really a lot shaking tomorrow other than that. But I may have the chance to get other things done early. *gasp* planning ahead, imagine that! Sarah is and will be in Tuscola until Monday evening when she shall return around 5-6pm.
Tuesday January 2nd 2007, Sarah and I will plan to wake up at the buttcrack of dawn (read: no late night on Monday). We will proceed to go to Busey Bank and grab some counter checks for our account, as no-one has seen that particular checkbook in a while and it would be best to have something of that form on our person. We will load the Honda (which now has a working hatch, yay!) with items for the final trip to Nebraska. These items will include; Computers, Wires, Pictures, Posters, Financial Information, Christmas Gifts, Luggage, Cooler, Junk Food, etc. We will also load the carpet cleaner, electric screwdriver, and all contents of the garage-staging area into the moving truck which will be acquired around 9am. After this is loaded, we shall head out (hopefully at 10:30a at the latest) to Blair Nebraska. With this tentative departure time, our arrival is estimated in Blair at around 5:30p-6:00p. Now ...
This is the part that probably pertains to most readers:
Once we are in Blair, we will begin a three-fold operation. Each fold of this operation consists in subparts but it is important, first and foremost, to know what each fold of the operation is and what it is not. Actually, they have what they are not in common (which is kind of confusing I'll admit, but I'll attempt to explain).
1st Fold - Completed Loading Of Moving Truck: While the arrival time of the truck is unknown, as it will be driven by my parents, when it does arrive the contents of the 'storage-apartment' will need to be moved into the truck. The 2nd Fold must be consulted prior to the placement of anything directly into the truck, however the larger purpose of this 1st Fold is still pertinent. There are also various furniture items in the 'living-apartment' which need placement into the truck. There will need to be a battle plan formulated regarding the placement order of furnitures/boxes/etc within the moving truck. However, and this is important, this battle plan is only to be formulated by Annette, Larry, Sarah, and Thomas Jackson as they (particularly my parents) have experience in large moving operations.
2nd Fold - Labelling Of Items: A large concern in the loading process, is that the labelling which has taken place thusfar in the packing procedure has been substandard. This is to be rectified by the (re)-labelling of boxes. Such labelling is to be done/instructed by Sarah or Tom and done in a clear/readable manner. This means writing on the top and at least two sides of each box, specifying the box's contents and room-destination. This is rather simple, but must be done before placement into the truck, as we want unloading to also be a speedy, efficient, precise process.
3rd Fold - Conclusion Of Packing: There remain some things in the apartment which still need to be packed or disassembled. Off the top of my head, the kitchen contains all pots and pans, several plastic storage items (above the fridge), the contents of the refrigerator and freezer, cookie sheets, small appliances, counter-top items, etc. The living room contains the couch (which must be addressed ASAP), the futon, television, dinky endtable, tv trays, several Longaberger baskets, the large lamp, shoe-basket-box, etc. The bedroom contains a lot of clothing, Sarah's desk (requires disassembly), a chest of drawers, lots of hangers, a few tubs, several boxes, closet storage containers, etc. This room seems to be the one in need of the most work. The office contains the printer (one wire to wrap), the monitor (to be boxed in its original container), various wires, two battery-backup units, a papisan chair, 4 bookshelves (at least one of which requires disassembly), a basket of clothes, several poster tubes, some pillows, the desk (also requires disassembly), etc. Once the bigger items (bookshelves, papisan, desk) are removed from this room, the boxing up of things will probably flow rather smoothly.
Commonality Of Folds - What These Are Not: It should be noted that the ultimate purpose of the evening/morning of Tuesday/Wednesday is not a social one. There is a timetable which must be adhered to in order to ensure that the moving process goes smoothly. This means that there will be no 'chilling' or 'video-gaming' or 'tv-ing' or other things of that nature involved while the truck requires any form of loading. Productivity must be of foremost importance. However, tihs urgent productivity does not mean that Sarah and Tom have suddenly developed a distaste for friends, peers, etc. We appreciate any help you would feel compelled to offer, we are thankful for your company throughout our time in Nebraska, and we will hold the fond memories of our times shared with you in our hearts. If you want to say any 'one-last goodbyes' or get weepy or whatever ... please feel free to give either of us a call on our cellphones or come down and give a quick hug. We're not intending to stop the packing/labelling/loading process for any extended running around for final socializing. But we would like to see you, if you would like to see us.
There is a possibility, and this should be read as extremely tentative and probably unlikely, that there will be a Kona Grill run if the truck is fully packed with speed and vigor. This Kona Grill run will be open to those 21 and over, as they have recently begun carding people without prejudice. If you are interested, express such an interest to either Tom or Sarah and if it happens we will give you a ring at the appropriate time. Transportant for this extremely tentative occasion is to be determined, but it is HIGHLY PROBABLE that everyone will not fit into the Honda/Moving Van. So if you'd like to go, please consider offering your car.
Remaining Items: There may be a few items that will stick around in Blair after we leave. If you would like these items, please visit the apartment and talk to Tom or Sarah. They are on a first-come first-served basis and if other items arise, advertisements are not very likely. In other words, we have a few things we know we're not taking ... so if you want them speak up. We probably will have other things we may not take, but if you are interested in any spontaneous freebies ... you'll have to be around (read: helping) in order to have such spontaneity made known to you. Off the top of my head, we have the following, some have been spoken for already: loveseat-couch, a small cd-rack (Michael Barsness,
narutoninetails, this needs to get to you), a bicycle (not guaranteeing quality, originally
musiconmywings', but appears to have been forgotten in interpersonal turmoil/moving experiences). If these or any spontaneously discovered items are not claimed, they will either be donated to goodwill (depending on transportative opportunity) or left by the Omaha Village dumpster for disposal.
If you have any questions, comments, or would like to volunteer aid of one kind or another, please email me at tjackson AT livejournal DOT com or call my cellphone. The odds are enormously likely that I/we will have little-to-no internet access during this packing/loading/labelling experience. Hopefully you understanding the intended affectionate/informative purpose of this message and I haven't stepped on any toes. Your prayers, assistance, and love are very much appreciated.
Yours In Christ's Service,
Thomas & Sarah Jackson
