This was awesome and I kinda wish something like that had happened on the show. I mean, Neal looked on the verge of breaking down a couple of times during the season. If I was him I would certainly have drunk myself into a stupor at one point!

And thanks for not mutilating any of the characters. I've read too many breakdown fics in which Neal suddenly turns into a weepy or suicidal something, so this was very refreshing!

Thank you. And, yeah, I wish this happened on the show too. I still have a hard time picturing Neal drinking himself into oblivion, but with everything he's got going on, I don't think it's out of the question.

I always try to stay true to the characters when I write, and it makes me ridiculously happy that I think I succeeded. :-D

Ooh, nice fic! I really enjoyed it. I love the details of Peter noticing how rare it is to see Neal without Veneer. And I like that Neal didn't come clean right away.

Yeah, it's those rare moments where we see Neal without the masks in place. I also wanted to write something where Neal is very taciturn, very quiet. And this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Very thought-provoking piece, I really enjoyed it. It makes me wonder how vulnerable Neal would be if he were ever fall-down drunk....

It's kinda hard to imagine what Neal would be like if he was really sloshed. Usually I'd say he gets boisterous and talkative, kinda like we've seen when he was drugged in "Vital Signs". But for this, I figured he's a) in a subdued mood anyway because of the whole treasure dilemma and b) he's also had a little time to sober off since they put him in the drunk tank.
