Okay. Alan Cross, for those who don't know, is a radio broadcaster type guy, who knows a fair bit too much about certain artists and has a program called The Ongoing History of New Music. And the show just put out a new CD called 'Cool Britania'. The purpose of it was to "introduce new British bands" and they did a special about the CD last weekend.
And they played Athlete and Travis and stuff and it was cool. And then he played 'Saturday Night' and I was happy because I think that everybody should love the Kaiser Chiefs, and they should have a big huge party with everyone on earth because they are nice. But then Alan Cross played 'Can't Stand Me Now' and I that's why I got angry.
Okay, I know I don't own the band, but they obviously mean something to me and it pissed me off. Firstly, I don't know why playing the Libertines counts as new British music since they've been around for years and aren't even together anymore. (And I know that it takes a long time to put compilations together, but still.) Secondly, he introduced them saying stuff like, "Even if you haven't heard their music, you've probably heard about Pete being screwed up and dating Kate Moss" and "He's even been to jail!!!" (shocking). The only time he even mentioned any other member of the band was to say that Pete robbed "a fellow bandmate and was sent to prison". Then they played 'Can't Stand Me Now', which is probably the most "meaningful" song in the sense that most fangirls are at least vaguely aware of the story behind it and such. But now everyone will go out and buy the CD and only think that it's a cool song by some band with a really fucked up guy named Pete. Which kind of bothers me, as immature as that sounds.
Anyways, the whole point of this is that Alan Cross is sort of a dickwad. Then again, I will probably go out and end up buying the CD anyways simply because it has 'Let's Push Things Forward' on it, and I can't find Original Pirate Material anywhere.
Sorry, that was lame.
On a side note, I absolutely love drum rolls. Woo woo woo. Oh yeah, yesterday at Laura's we sat in her basement and sang rapped along with Goldie Lookin' Chain. And I think her mom saw me dancing and thinks I'm a lunatic. Dang.
