Sydney was INCREDIBLE, it's a really beautiful city. And it has great food, nightlife that never seems to sleep. Lot's of pubs, people drive on the other side of the road, interesting accents... Umm The people as a whole seem very friendly, and I mean everyone. Lets see. On Thursday, our first real day in the city, Pia and Lee and I walked to the King Street Wharves, which is in the heart of the harbor and not far from our hotel, it's one of the older parts of the city. We went on water taxi trip to the Harbor Bridge and the Opera house, we went to the Maritime Museum, Which was FREE! they had a great exhibit on the Vikings with artifacts from Gothenburg Sweden. I was very impressed with all of the things they had on display, but by far the coolest thing their was Kay Kottey's(?) yacht, I mean the whole boat, rigged and all, ready to sail away. The background on that is the Kay was the first woman to sail around the globe non-stop.
After that we took the monorail, yes the monorail, I think it's so cool that Sydney has a monorail back to the hotel. Which to say is pretty much the end of that day, well except for the hunt for dinner which was more of the same but at night.
The following day, which was friday Aunt Lee stayed at the hotel in the morning while Pia and I did some more sight seeing, and some grocery shopping, mostly for bread so we could eat the meat leftover from Thursday's dinner. we also took the monorail again, but this time went to the Chinese Garden of Peace, by Darling Harbor (where we had gone the day before) before walking through Chinatown to find a bakery. then we got on the monorail again. We got off and walked, to the Rocks, it's the oldest part of the city. After that I had lunch with leftovers at the hotel, and went back to the Chinese Gardens with Pia and Li.
Saturday was airports and a 5 hour flight over a lot of nothing, and some more nothing finally landing in Darwin.
On the 30th I went with Mimi's older son Peter, out into the Outback do a little fishing and sight seeing. Oh and there were crocodiles; bunches of them as of yet I have seen no Kangaroos, but I heard a couple crashing through the grass on the walk in the bush I took. Jack and Peter are going to take me fishing on the weekend for a couple of days, and they said I'd see some on the drive down to Jack's house down the coast.
