Aaaaaw!

So, Glenn threw a surprise birthday party for me yesterday. Kantayra did an amazing job distracting me while he got everything set up (I had an great *bzuh?* moment when I walked into my apartment and found her standing there with a whole group of my Egyptology buddies after having been in her apartment moments before. I bow to your awesomeness for pulling that off, Kantayra XD). I got a very pretty set of earrings from my friend Rozenn, a magnificently horrible TV movie called The Curse of King Tut's Tomb from Kantayra, a delicious bottle of wine from eronanke, and a gorgeous book from Glenn called Jazz Age Beauties -- a collection of photographs by Alfred Cheney Johnston of actresses and musical stars (mostly ladies from the Ziegfeld Follies) from the 'teens and 'twenties. There was chocolate cake with strawberries in the middle, pizza, balloons, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and great company. I haven't had a birthday party like that since childhood. Thanks so much, guys! It was awesome. *hugs everyone*

Tomorrow Glenn and I will be visiting Mama, and probably going to see a movie. I need to look at what's out right now -- I just realized I have no idea what's playing. I'm scrambling to get all my homework done tonight and tomorrow morning so I can just relax and have fun. This quarter has been INSANE.

I'm going to the annual meeting of ARCE (the American Research Center in Egypt) this coming weekend. I'll be presenting a talk based on my MA thesis. This will be my first time presenting at a conference, and ARCE is a big one, so the pressure is on, and I still haven't even put together my powerpoint presentation. Blargh. :p I'll have to squeeze that in there sometime in the next few days. It's exciting, but I'll be glad when it's behind me.

arce, birthday, school
