Wait lists

I'm teaching Math 160. The class size is 40. Right now, there are 41 people enrolled, and another 24 on the wait list. Included among these 41 are 7 students I had last semester. On the waitlist are another 8 students I've had in previous semesters (and at least one other who wants to add it). I'll probably end up moving the class to a bigger room so that I can admit those students. (I just can't say no, but I also admit that it is an ego thing, too, that so many past students want to take me again.)

By contrast, my other class has a cap of 36 students. There are 37 enrolled, and about 8 on the waitlist. This isn't in the algebra->calculus progression, so none of these students have had me, and probably don't know much about me. Although maybe they do; I'm sure most students now know about sites like rate-a-prof and check out the potential teachers there.
