I like the look of it. How does it perform, speed-wise. I've always found the search to be functional, but a little ponderous. I realize it's doing a lot in the background, but it's still kind of annoying that it seems to lag in the interface at points.

It seems to perform fairly well. But I'm accessing it via Slingbox from across the country, so it isn't a really accurate test. Still, what I saw was quite usable.

Will we get this? I like the design but I can't afford at TiVoHD atm.

No - the whole point of this design is that it takes advantage of the larger screens and resolutions of HDTVs. This only works on an HDTV, so it won't work on a S2 TiVo.

Ok but what if someone has a S3 or TiVoHD connected to a non HDTV? Also could this be seen as the beginning of the end of updates to the S2 line?

It really doesn't work at SD resolutions. I haven't tried to see if they actually disable it, but it wouldn't be pretty, or readable, at 4:3 480i

I really dislike these loadable modules. The fonts and look'n'feel of them are all subtly different from the main system, and the delay as they load up... The Video On Demand screens, this new version of swivel search and so on just don't feel the same.

One thing I don't like is that you need to privacy opt-in to use this. Won't this lead to my viewing habits being personally identifiable and sold? I'm not a privacy nut (I'm happy with privacy-neutral setting), but I do see the need for a some "let my TiVo send personal data, but you can't use it for anything except this" setting.
