TiVo Releases TiVo Desktop 2.6, Enables Web Video Support

Mar 18, 2008 08:00

As I originally reported from CES TiVo Desktop 2.6 adds support for Web Video, if you purchase the TiVo Desktop Plus upgrade. And TiVo is making Desktop 2.6 for Windows available starting today. Since all TiVo units currently only support MPEG-2 video, this works by using TiVo Desktop Plus to transcode web video from whichever format is is ( Read more... )

"With the native feeds you can select one of the video feeds pre-selected by TiVo from the new interface on your TiVo."

Where can I find a list of these 'pre-selected by TiVo' feeds? I've looked everywhere but, apparently, not in the right places. (I'm trying to get a pre-spend peek at what's avail.)

I found that - that's what led me to the question.

I select > all and then go to the bottom and selected it and get to a screen that tells me to to to the website for TiVo Desktop Plus.

In the top right hand corner of that screen is 4 graphics - is that all there is? Those four? I thought that those were maybe a representation and there were a whole lot more.

wow. Think I just saved myself $25. Thanks!

No - you can't see the list of additional sites unless you have Desktop 2.6 Plus installed. Since it sounds like you don't, you won't see the programs at all.

Ahh and right. I do not have it installed because I do not know if I want it or not. I was hoping for a pre-spend peek - A list to see if I wanted to spend the $25.

Thanks.

This week has been hectic. I'm still planning on doing a more in-depth review, but I may not get it up until Friday, or the weekend. Last night I wasn't feeling well and I ended up crashing when I got home without even turning on my TiVo or PC, tonight I have plans and may not have time afterward. I'm planning to list the current selection in the review.

But note that it isn't limited to just those channels, they're just the easiest. You can also use any RSS client on your PC and then have 2.6 monitor the folder and transfer the videos from there as well. I already have mine doing that with two podcasts not in the list - Wired's Alt Text and WebbAlert.

I'm so sorry! I did not mean to imply in any way that you were responsible for there not being any list! I would expect that if TiVo is providing the content, they would provide the list. I was only looking for a clue as to where they put it.

I pretty sue don't think I want to mess with it anyway. And I'm really sure I don't want to spend $25 to see what's there.

Thanks anyway. Hope you feel better.
