viedo transfers?

I know when you have a router, you can send your tivo'd shows to your computer. Is there any way to do that WITHOUT a router? I have high speed cable internet, but I only have one computer. As of right now I have my tivo hooked up to the phone line for updates because buying a long phone cord was a whole lot cheaper than buying a wireless router (and i'm not even sure how well a wireless router would work since my modem is in a different room).

I've got so many shows on my Tivo right now that other things are starting to be deleted faster. I really need to get these shows off my tivo, but I don't want to delete them. If I could send them to my computer, all problems solved!
