Toronto plane crash

Aug 03, 2005 09:07

I found about the plane crash around midnight my time last night. The crash has happened about an hour before (I think), and although BBC World had live coverage of the site, they had very few facts (and even fewer correct ones) and didn't know anything about what had happened to the passengers and crew on board. I wanted to stay up and wait for further news, but made myself go to bed instead and did manage to sleep. This morning it looks like everyone on the plane survived, which is great news.

This accident freaked me out more usual because, since 1999, I've visited Toronto many times, and I've always flown to Pearson International. I've even flown Air France to Toronto (granted, I've also flown AA, BA and KLM to Toronto), so there was a stronger than usual "OMG I could have been there" factor here.

I've promised myself that from now on, I'll always put my shoes back on before landing. Just in case.
