COMIC CON @ THE SAN DIEGO CONVENTION CENTER - 7/14/12 (DAY 2)
WAH!
As much fun as I had yesterday I really just want to go home. In previous Comic Cons I've undergone some cosmic change. It starts as soon as the train leaves Los Angeles and by the time I set foot in San Diego I just want to start dancing. Yesterday I did achieve that euphoric feeling but I really had to work for it. POOR ME!!
I slept in a little bit Saturday morning. I rolled out of bed around nine and got some breakfast at the Denny's across the street. I nixed the Quentin Tarantino panel in Hall H because I am not up for waiting in a ridiculously long ass line that wont even guarantee me a seat in the back row!
SLEESTAKS
I made it to the convention center at around 11Am and just did my wandering thing. I looked at booths and costumes etc.. I made my way upstairs for the Sid and Marty Krofft panel. Now Sid and Marty are at Comic Con every year but the main reason I'm at this panel is because they are showing the never before seen pilot episode of Land of the Lost.
I got into the convention room and grabbed a seat in the front row. I see Sid and Marty waiting in the wings and they both smiled and waved at me!
I've said this before in a previous Comic Con post. I really dig on Sid and Marty Krofft. I love those shows but they creep me the fuck out at the same time! I think it's that uncomfortableness that I find so appealing.
Sid and Marty came out and those guys are ANCIENT!! They told stories of their early days in show business. Sid told some great stories about how he saw The Wizard of Oz on opening day and how he used to open for Judy Garland with his puppet act. Then Marty interrupted him a said, "We'll be here until next Thursday with your stories!" Then they both talked about Land of the Lost. They told a great story about how the original title for "Land of the Lost" was just going to be simply titled, "LOST"!
ANYWAY the pilot wasn't really a pilot. It was an 8 minute film they created to sell the show to the network. It was really just still photos moving along backdrops of the grand canyon with dinosaurs thrown in. It was still really cool to see because I love that show.
There was a Q & A after the short film and Sid and Marty said, "ASK US ANYTHING! Don't be shy!" I thought about asking them if they would ever consider going back into the amusement park business but I thought that would be too harsh. The panel ended but they said that we could ask them anything at the signing downstairs in a half an hour.
I ran downstairs for the signing. I was one of the first people in line. This chick in front of me was bitching because they were already a half hour late. I said, "Give Sid a break! He's pushing 90!" They finally showed up 40 minutes later and they signed everything I gave them.
Land of the Lost season 1 DVD. Also signed by the dude who played 'Wil".
The Bugaloos complete series DVD. There was only ONE season!
And this HR Pufnstuf 3D poster I got at the booth. This is really super cool!!!
I'M THE WANDERER
Then I aimlessly wandered some more. Highlights were:
The Cartoon Network booth with Mordecai and Rigby!
Autographed copy of the Buddy Holly LP! One of the greatest and most perfect albums ever recorded! There was a booth that was selling autographed Beatles and Stones albums. He wanted $8000 for this one!!
A father and son as The Silver Surfer
"I LOST MY FRIENDS, I DANCED ALONE. IT'S SIX O'CLOCK. I WANT TO GO HOME!"
It was now 6PM and I officially had enough. If I hang around here for too long I will eventually buy something I wont need so I split. I also skipped the Gay in Comics panel because I just couldn't take anymore of anything.
As much fun as I've had I was just looking forward to getting out of there. I was almost lifted away during the mass exodus.
I thought about maybe hanging around town to look for some kind of trouble to get myself into but I went back to the motel instead. Then when I got back to my room I thought about looking for some trouble over here but I just got some Mexican food from across the street and went to sleep. No wonder I've been having the worst farts!!!
CALIFORNIA PARADISE
I set my alarm extra early because I wanted to take an earlier train home. I managed to get on the 9AM train back home. I got a seat by the window and sat on the side facing the ocean. I love the train ride to San Diego. It's beach and surfers for miles! Then you get the Nuclear Boobs at San Onofre!
I was overwhelmed by the landscape of my native Southern California then I started to sing, "CALIFORNIA!!!! YOU'RE PARADISE!!!"

Thank GOD I'm from here!
I made it home in one piece and I was so happy to see Danny. I called my bro and told him of my adventures. We said we'll go next year but it will probably be for only one day.
