So I havent been online for a while, well I have, I just havent updated my journal. But I guess today is the day.
Lot's of things have happened in these past weeks. I got a job. It's fun and I can tell my boss likes how I work. He's even gonna buy me a new computer and get internet for me (he said that it was so I could chat all day long, hee hee). It's a relly laid back environtment so I don't really mind that I'm getting paid peanuts.
I also started taking guitar lessons. I've always wanted to learn but never found a good teacher. One of my friends offered so of course I jumped at the oportunity.
Last weekend I went to Inland Invasion, in San Bernardino, with some of my friends. It was scorching hot but we endured it all just to be able to see The Cure. It was soo great. And we also got to see Duran Duran, Violent Femmes, Echo and the Bunnymen, Hot Hot Heat and Interpol (there were more but we missed them 'cause we got there past 4 p.m.). For the first time I didn't have to be the one to drive us back (weee).
Last wednsday night I made up my mind to fix up my car. I got it with the windshield cracked and the airbags exploted, and had been driving it like that for 2 years. I thought it was about time I fixed it all up. On thursday 5 pm I discovered my car had been stolen. Went to the police in Mexico, and they treated me well, very helpfull and nice. After I filled the report and left there, I went to see a private investigator type guy, finds stolen cars (very very tempting). My boss insisted on me taking friday off so I could file all the reports I needed. I was told to go to CHP that's past Old Town. I did and was in shock when they didn't want to make a report. The mexican report I had said that I lived in Mexico so they didn't want to bother with me and hear my explanation of it. I got into my sisters car (she very nicely lent it to me), and called Danny on the radio so he would cheer me up. He convinced me to go back in there and make them file a report. So I went back in, and I told the guy that I had been told I needed to make a report there and he was still saying no to me because I lived in Mexico. I changed it around and told him that I did but only part of the time and he got pissed at me and told me I had to talk to another guy. He told this other guy that I said I lived in Mexico (I really dont understand all this obssession with me living over here but anyway...) I told this second guy that I only stayed with my parents in Mexico a couple of days a week and that I gave the address in hopes that they notify me quicker. He asked for ID and checked me out, I was clean I guess 'cause after that he gave me some papers to fill out and that was that. No explanations, nothing. Gave me a copy of the report and sent me on my way. Geez I would have expected to be treated like this by a mexican authority, that's the stereotype, but not in the "States". One can always be amazed. So now I'm a pedestrian again and gonna have to hitch rides to get around. At least my sister works near me so it's not gonna be that bad, and I'm gonna get lots of exercise walking the 6 long blocks back and forth.
I dont know why but I'm still not upset, not even angry (well maybe just a little at those people at the CHP office). I'm strangely calm and content. Maybe 'cause I got a small raise after all this, or 'cause I bought myself a tinny Funshine Bear to carry with me, he serves his purpose and does remind me to: "Enjoy each day" (hee hee)
I also read this on friday, in an cool book about International Architecture, while I waited at the office to get my paycheck:
