CHARACTER
[series] BLEACH
[full name] Kuugo Ginjou
[age] Ginjou has no canon age. He seems to be in his late twenties - perhaps around 28
[gender] Male.
[canon point] Chapter 459, after relieving Ichigo of his Fullbring powers
[reference] Ginjou, BLEACH Wiki

[personality]
A manipulator and the ‘manipulated’ - the one planning it all and the willing pawn. Kuugo Ginjou is a man with many faces.

Upon Ginjou’s first appearance, he comes off as being cheerful and perhaps a bit goofy in some strange way. He’s pleasant and a bright presence, grateful for the things people go out of their way to do for him - willing to buy someone food in thanks for stopping a thief. This is all fine and well and gives off the impression that he could, somehow, be a pretty likeable guy. But we learn quickly that such a cheerful front was hardly the real Kuugo Ginjou.

Underneath that, you’ll find another side of Ginjou - one the members of Xcution and Ichigo are more familiar with. This Ginjou is not quite as bright and cheerful as he’d presented initially but superficially, he’s a bit charming. This charm doesn’t last long, however, as he’s very much the type to say things to catch your attention before moving on to something else. To this extent, he’s a bit cryptic, knowing what to say, when to say it and just how much to say to make you second guess yourself and your decisions. This is largely intentional as Ginjou’s seems to take some strange joy and baiting others, watching their reactions and gauging how to handle them from there.

In his own ways, he could almost be considered a bit of a creeper with the type of things he knows about others. He’s shown to know a fair amount about others before he meets them, signs that he’s either done his research and is possibly a lot sneakier than people may think. He’s well-versed in things he shouldn’t quite know of and he uses this as leverage, a way to bait you, as said before. He knows how to weave a good mystery, the kind that makes you doubt yourself and where you place your trust.

His potentially sneaky nature aside, Ginjou is truthfully quite honest. Despite subtle hints of being a manipulator, he has no problem saying things on his mind. Many of the things he says, he does so nonchalantly and proves that - beyond the obvious, severe issues - he’s not easy to rattle and doesn’t so much in ways of response besides knowing (mocking, almost) smirks that make you want to punch him in the teeth. He’s also sarcastic and the type looking to get under your skin to prove a point, especially if you’re easy to rile.

Truthfully, Ginjou is nothing short of sure of himself and carries himself as a leader should - proud, confident and down-to-business when he has to be. He’s definitely a man with a plan and he’s shown a willingness and dedication to achieving the things he wants, no matter the time or costs it will have in the end. In this sense, he’s selfish, working on things to his satisfaction and not entirely to help another. But this selfishness could easily be considered kindness or favors, in their own right. Regardless, Ginjou views them as a means to accomplishing the things he wants. He has goals for himself and like any good schemer, knows when and how to adjust fire when things take a different route than anticipated. It’s all about the end result, how you plan to achieve it and making all the right moves to do so, after all.

Perhaps one of his few redeeming traits is an almost merciless determination. Once Ginjou has set a plan in to motion, he’s shown that he’ll do what he has to to ensure its completion. He’ll push others and himself to their limits to accomplish seemingly impossible goals and would willing do violent, harsh things to another to get them to push themselves to new levels to accomplish the objective he’s set for them. He’s not terribly sympathetic in this regard and will easily disregard the pain of others, if it means reaching an end result.

[orientation]
Canonically, Ginjou is not shown to interact with anyone romantically or show any sexual or affectionate interest in any other character.

[wish]
Ginjou’s wish is to have the strength to carry out his and Tsukishima’s goals - with or without Tsukishima’s help.

note Ginjou’s exact ‘goals’ are unclear at the moment because of recent canon developments. ;a;

[requested house]
Satouzuke Like many of the other ‘antagonists’ of BLEACH, Ginjou carries himself with an air of mystery that leaves many to question the truth beyond what he says and does and, above all else, worry if placing their trust in him is a wise idea. He is, by no means, quiet or shy - in fact, he’s quite charming. Though to those who care to pay him any mind, that charm is the cover of a manipulator, someone who has secrets not many are aware of. Ginjou, truthfully, is surrounded by mysteries that are very slowly being revealed, if just slightly. His intentions, his motives, his true alliances even are all things that lead those around him astray as only Ginjou (and perhaps Tsukishima) seems to be aware of what he’s doing and why.

[misc notes]
Ginjou has a special ability - the ability to manipulate the souls of various matters to different extents. Such a power allows the user to do things such as pulling on the soul of water to be able to walk on it or changing the soul of asphalt to make it more ‘elastic’. It’s called Fullbring.

This ability also allows something the user - Ginjou, in this instance - feels particularly close to, to alter the object’s form. For Ginjou, this object is the pendant around his neck. When he activates his Fullbring powers, his pendant becomes a large sword. The sword itself is massive but despite this, Ginjou is able to easily and effectively fight with it, making him an able-bodied swordsman. Beyond that, the sword is able to create explosions on contact when Ginjou engulfs it with a special aura.

Regardless, the bracelet will seal his powers to prevent him from using his Fullbring in any form and even further, without his pendant, he is without his main and only weapon. The only abilities he will be able to use are the hand-to-hand combat skills he’s demonstrated.

SAMPLES
[Network Post - Voice]

You take something from someone else. Someone else takes everything from you. [ A low chuckle - a mix of amusement and distant irritation. ] It’s a pretty vicious cycle. Guess it doesn’t make much of a difference now, though. [ A shrug, though you can’t see it. Hear it, perhaps, with the softest rustle of fabric. ]

Besides the obvious, if someone can tell me more about this place - I’m all ears.

[ Get a feel for the world around him, learn how it functioned - that’s his only real concern for the moment. Doing that would make things much simpler in time. ]

[Prose]

It was strange, almost unfair when he thought about it.

It felt like yesterday when all of them were working towards this goal, working hard to find a way to be free of the power of their Fullbring. And as if with no problem, those very powers he’d once wanted to be rid of were gone - sealed by some strange magic he couldn’t fully wrap his mind around. “It was really that easy,” Ginjou mused faintly to himself as he shifted where he sat, leaning further against the tree behind him. Slowly, his hand lifted, shaking his sleeve back to study the bracelet around that hung from his wrist. His eyes slid across it carefully, as if trying to unravel its very mysteries in those seconds.

“Heh, that would be my luck,” he continued, eyes closing as his hand moved instead towards his neck, sliding his hand across the smooth curve of shoulder and neck, feeling the strange ink under his fingertips. Maybe it was karma, he idled as his hand continued inwards towards his chest - following the path of a chain that no longer rested there. This was some twisted joke for what he’d done to Ichigo, some punishment for making a kid cry over something he’d taken from him. Only the punishment had taken everything - his powers, what he’d taken from Ichigo and his belongings. Among them, he reasoned, the one thing he had a true attachment to had been taken from him.

His eyes opened slowly with the thought, lifting his hand in favor of pushing a loose strand of dark hair back. He could live without his cellphone and the thin, glossy card he kept stashed with it. His clothes were replaceable, so was the wallet and anything else they’d taken from him. Everything else except his pendant. “So I’ll just have to get it back,” he decided calmly, eyes closing once more with the thought, his hand dropping back to his chest, where he lacked the familiar weight of his pendant against his chest.
