I've never been one of those people who have dreaded going to the dentist. I haven't really liked going every nine months, but I've always thought of it as a necessary evil. Anyway, three days ago I went in for my appointment and I had the hygienist from hell. While she was cleaning my teeth, I actually started to squirm. Nothing major, but I've never done that before. I was gripping onto the chair and I'm sure I looked terribly uncomfortable. It felt like she was drilling holes in my teeth and I wanted to scream out in pain. I know they use new tools now, but did she really have to make it the most painful experience possible? Those tools kill the ears, by the way. Mine started to ring and the screeching noises were awful. She also scratched the side of my cheek with something that honestly felt like a knife. The kicker: she said my teeth were hard to clean. No one has ever said that to me before. Maybe if she had been a little gentler the job would have been easier.
Then of course my actual dentist comes in, checks my teeth for like two seconds, says they look good and leaves. When I go back in May, I need to have X-Rays done to check my wisdom teeth. He keeps asking if they bother me. Come on, if any of my teeth hurt I'd be coming in before my check-up, I wouldn't live with the pain! I hope I don't get the same hygienist because I will ask for another one if I have to. Worst trip to the dentist ever!
