The Heat, our Lights and other stuff . . .
The NYC area has been experiencing a heat wave, today is day five, tomorrow will be day 6. At about 10-10:30PM last night we lost power in parts of the house. Yes, parts of the house. There was no power in the basement, on my mom's floor there was no power in her bedroom. On our floor, the only room that had power was the living room and the storage/little room that opens onto our balcony. Totally WTF. I would understand it more if the whole house lost power but parts of the house??? Anyway it was actually a very breezy night, the moon was bright and we stayed outside on our balcony for roughly 2 1/2 hours watching the streetlights go on, then off. . .then on...then..you get the idea. The power did go back on throughout the house at about 12, but we stayed outside a while longer as the streetlights were still doing their 'now you see me now you don't' routine.We all slept in the living room though, just in case. Did I mention I'd called our utility company and they said they would call back and let us know when the problem/outtage would be taken care of? Guess what time they called? About 10:30AM this morning. *eyeroll*
Thank god I'd been able to shut off the computer before the power went out. Seeing as I was the only one in the room and everyone else was either on the balcony (my husband) or the living room - the kids, I'd only had the fan on. The fan just kind of powered down, i mean it was still working/on but it was as if I'd turned it down a level. Uh oh. That was my warning and I shut the compie down immediately. I'd been in the middle of posting an entry too. *pout* So here is what I would have posted last night if the power had not gone off.
I'd brought Stacy to see Miley Cyrus at Bryant Park where she would be performing for Good Morning America. There had been reports on the news Thursday night that there were already about 100 fans camping out overnight. We got there at about 7:45AM and there were tons of people. Stacy brought her binoculars because I was determined that she would be able to see her as well as hear her. Anyway we go through the crowd and I lift her up and she was able to see her for a bit as Miley ran through a song during commercial break. It was just too hot where we were in the middle of that big crowd and we moved out of the middle of the park and off towards the balustrades that separated the big lawn from the sides of the park with seating/etc. I was able to get her onto the balustrade as Miley performed 2 songs and then she had to come down as park security came around making all the kids get down. It's didn't matter, Stacy saw her as she performed and that was what we came for. BTW I didn't see her, it was that crowded. You know what was funny though? I asked Stacy how she liked Miley's performance and her comment was: " Miley did a sort of Bill dance." Apparently at some part of the song she grabbed onto the micstand, tilted it and did some sort of spastic kick with her booted foot. LOL XD
