good day

I had a great day with Aunt Mel today (not that most days aren't). I had my last doctor's appointment and have been given a clean bill of heath. I am going to the gym tomorrow! About damn time. It's like part of my summer routine went missing that I'm just getting back. One of our friends is a personal trainer there, so I might be able to get a few good tips. Since we had to drive to Visalia for the doctor (about an hour away), we also did a lil shopping at the mall. Not that we bought a whole lot, but the shopping itself was fun. I also got a new pair of glasses. I changed from my heavy plastic frames to a more current wire frame. Especially liking the fact that these convert to sunglasses. I'll get contacts when I get back to Virginia, but considering that the prescription is valid there and my lazy ass hardly wears my contacts, there's no rush. Aunt Mel also set me up with new makeup that she's going to give me pointers with. Wow. I sound like a total ditz. Shopping, fashion, and makeup. Somebody please shoot me. Next thing we know I'll be giggling and twirling my hair.

Lot's of stuff on the schedule for the upcoming week. There's the usual evening appearence at the club tomorrow. We're going boating with a neighbor this Saturday, and if we get home in time, hitting the movies with a different friend that evening. Depending on a couple of circumstances, Aunt Mel and I might be heading to San Fran/Berkeley Sunday and returning on Tuesday (this is still contingent upon how Aunt Mel is doing because we've decided that if she's good, we're going with or without Uncle Greg). Next Wednesday, there's been an all-call out to the squadron about the birthday. Then it's packing, last minute preps, and off to Fresno the day before my flight. We're staying there the night before because my flight leaves at 6:30am. Since the airport is an hour away and you have to be there about an hour and a half before your flight...that would require getting up at 3am, which is more of a bedtime than a wakeup time. Aunt Mel said it's just not worth it, so I'm certainly not going to turn down the extra sleep.

I'm feeling especially lucky to be surrounded (well, not at the moment) by such talented people. Amongst those near and dear are so many truly creative people, and you're all absolutely wonderful. Even if I'm no longer the poetry girl I was in highschool, I definately still appreciate the word mastery. Ya'll know who you are.
