S - Sisters
It finally occurred to me this afternoon to search for my sisters on Facebook...and lo and behold, they were both on there! They replied to the email I sent and confirmed that they were my sisters, and Stephanie told me that our father moved to New Orleans and died of a massive heart attack. Great...just what I need, the other side of my family has heart problems too!
I'm giddy and excited and nervous all at the same time. I have no idea what they've been told about me, but Steve always tried to tell me that he tried to contact me and my mother wouldn't allow it. I believe her when she says that that's not the case at all (especially since he never called or anything after I called him to tell him I got married and he was going to be a grandfather). So who knows what he told the rest of the family about why he wasn't in my life. Plus I have to admit I have a certain amount of anger towards him and jealousy of them...and I'm not really sure how to handle that.
But I have a huge family in St. Louis, most of whom I haven't seen since I was 6 weeks old. Hopefully this is the first step towards changing that, and actually having a relationship with that side of my family!
