(no subject)
People really piss me off sometimes. I mean, really, truly piss me off.
This was a posting on craigslist today:
"perfect small dog for retired couple or widow. A little 20lb Spaniel Spits dog named Scotty. A very sweet, loving, cuddly and playful little dog. Would be perfect for a single person or retired couple. Very healthy with all shots and blood work up to date. He is house trained and does perform all kinds of tricks on command. We adopted a beagle from a rescue center and ended up having pneumonia. She is doing better. Scotty does not accept the puppy because he is used to being the only dog. We wanted to get a playmate for him and it didn't work out. This is a hard decision for us because we have had Scotty for 10 years. If we can find a loving home for him, we won't have to give the puppy back to the rescue center where she got sick. We will provide all his toys, bed, food supplies, and kennel."
This post actually made me so angry that I emailed the woman to pointedly suggest that "since puppies are tremendously more adoptable than senior dogs, why not keep the pet you've had for 10 years and find a new home for the puppy?" What I wanted to do was call her a selfish, disgusting, horrible bitch and ask if she'd give her 10 year old child away if she got pregnant.
Who the hell buys a puppy as a playmate for a senior dog who's used to being alone anyway??
