If speaking to one's student has reminded me of anything, it is that the topic of parenthood is sometimes best left alone.

Or at least, for a time when better prepared to speak of it.

Those of us that have had, and been separated from, our children tend to take it very personally. We also tend to resent it being referred to in particular ways.

Which I mean as statement, not an accusation, and as a general observation. [Morrigan is a dominant lady, therefore she gets respect.]

Ah. That's something I've encountered recently, myself. And I tend to be unsympathetic to poor parents.
