A break from brainache

Right, quick update-age.  The big stuff that takes up space is just a click away.

*EDIT*
Started adding the tatami mats and a wall-thing.

Yes, so once again, dark and blurry bits the result of light getting in.  Is it a futon?  I think....so...?  Does it look dumb?  It'll (hopefully) look more squishy after I add color.  And fear not, she won't remain naked...though that would be intriguing...O_O  Aaaaanyway, I was thinking tatami mat floor?  Whatchu guys think?  I didn't want a bazillion lines going the same direction though, so while they'd been the same angle as the bed they might be oriented in such a way that the lines aren't all parallel.

And then I was thinking that I'd have her playing hanafuda.  These for those who don't know or who need a little memory poke:

Ha!  Yeah, I'd draw them really tiny.  Or use the scans and somehow rotate them so they'd be the right angle for the perspective...but I think drawing would be easier.  What say you?

And then I was thinking a little platter of mochi and manju and maybe a sake set in front of the futon?  I drew up some mochi and manju samples:

Drew them real quick, mind you, and they'd be 1/3 this size probably in the drawing.  And better coloring job.  =P  The one on the far left is supposed to be strawberry mochi.  I hope to hell it doesn't look like...something.......else.  X|  I based all these on actual mochi and manju from Two Ladies Kitchen in Hilo.  =D  Oh, the strawberry mochi I drew is cut in half so you can see the inside, in real life they're just massive mochi.

So if these grand plans of mine sound good to you guys, that just leaves the background.  Dunno...one entry has a folding screen type thing going on.  I was thinking of the kannon-do back home at Daifukuji.  Or the Japanese alcove thing...what's it called?  I ought to know...does it start with a "t" or...er...you know, with the flowers and scroll.  See what happens when you don't take Japanese for two quarters?  Brain goes "derrrrr...."  Blah.  Throw me some ideas, if you got any.  Taiko?  A window?  But it'd have to be night out, so not too exciting if there was a window.  And while I can envision cool window action with a big ol' moon, actually doing it will be....slow.  Huh.  OOOh, unless it was a window with the ocean right outside...?  Bah.  Deadline for the contest is next week Thursday, so highly unlikely this'll get in on time, but I'ma still doing it.  Even if I don't finish it until summer.  But yeah, input!  I'll luff you guys for it, and constructive criticism!  Yay for it all!  I'm not posting this up on deviantART yet because, like I said, I don't want Alkaline-Lady to see it yet.  Want it to be a nice surprise.  =D

Oh, and Kabuki'll be wearing a short yukata, kind of like a longish hapi coat.  Alkaline-Lady says it's usually red with butterflies on it, but I think I might use my yukata as a reference, since she said to put her in whatever.  Black with gold fans on the bottom and the sleeves.  And my red obi with usagi on it.  =)

So I came to the conclusion today after three bloody years that it's highly likely that I've chosen a major that isn't in my best interest, sanity-wise.  I SUCK at this phonology stuff.  Things make sense in class, but then stick me alone with the book and it seems my brain suffers massive meltdown.  And this does nothing for my self-confidence because then I convince myself that I must, in fact, be a complete idiot.  Fy faen.

Until the next time my frisky little ponies.

P.S.

I am an Internet Whore.  And possibly a Camera Whore too.
