Shots fired in Lynn Valley

North Vancouver RCMP are investigating a drive-by shooting in the 3400-block of Fromme Road in Lynn Valley late Wednesday night in which several shots were fired into an occupied house from a large calibre handgun

There were no reported injuries. A statement issued by North Vancouver RCMP Cpl. Bob Powell said investigators believe they know the motive for the shooting. But Powell states that police will not disclose the suspected motive and are asking witnesses to come forward. According to Powell's statement, " This incident had the potential to cause serious injury or death to some innocent citizens. Thankfully, residents were asleep in a portion of the house not in the path of the shots and were unharmed."

Powell's statement notes the occupants of the home "are not known to the police, do not have any involvement with the criminal element and know no one who might have any reason to target them in this matter." He said police responded to "a report of gunshots" at about 11:45pm. Investigators spoke to witnesses who reported seeing "an individual with a handgun departing from the scene after the shooting." Powell states that witnesses reported seeing two vehicles leaving the scene. Police did not disclose how many occupants were in the house or the number or shots fired. Descriptions of the man with the handgun and the two vehicles seen by witnesses in the neighbourhood were also not released. Anyone with information about the incident, or who was a witness to the shooting is asked to contact Cpl. Lawson Boutilier in North Vancouver RCMP's serious crimes section at 604-985-1311.
