The dagger's tip pricks Guy's abdomen, creating another tiny, welling wound. No matter how he concentrates, his mind slides away from remembering just where his blade entered her body. Instead, he recalls the sweet cascade of Marian's hair curling away from her arched neck and the weight of her on his arm. Sticky hot blood dampening his thigh. Her pink bow mouth, robbed of words.

He sets the point against his skin but his hands shake and will not move. Coward, he curses. Do this. Do this and you will finally share something true.
