Hello again. Yes, i'm really updating...lol. I had a wonderful day today and I had to write about it. Doobie and I set aside today to be our day. We haven't had a "day" to ourselves for a really long time. So we did so today. So we laid around this morning talking and such until we decided we felt like getting up, which happened around noon or something, maybe later. We then ate breakfast, which consisted of bagels topped with cream cheese, or peanut butter (NEVER LET DOOBIE PIT PEANUT BUTTER ON YOUR BAGEL FOR YOU....lol...ask me why later). We finally left the house today around 2pm (after I put sunscreen on Doobie) and went to Golf City on Highway 20 to play put put golf. We had great fun..: D. I love put put golf. Doobie made this totally wacko shot where he just whacked it, and the ball went flying up the green, hit a rock, bounced OUTSIDE of our green, hit the outside brick of another green and bounced back into our green..lol . It was funny. I made a hole in one, one time also. It was sorta by accident..lol. I made a bank shot.
After we went put put golfing we drove over to Trysting tree golf course and Doobie practiced at the driving range while I sat on the ledge and watched Doobie golf for a little while, then I sat at the picnic table and talked to Katie, Cara's sister who I ran into with a couple of her friends, and then I went inside the diner and read some of my book because I was tired of the wind blowing my hair into my face. Doobie finished his practice and after making it known that he thinks he did crappy (although he most certainly did not) we got in the car and drove to AArby's on 9th street where we got lunch. We then drove to chintimini park where we laid a sheet out on the grass and had a picnic lunch.
The funniest thing happened when we were sitting there. This lady had brought her kids to play at the park, well actually only one of her children could play at the park because her other was a baby, but her two year old son played for a little bit, and then they walked back by us to get to their van, and the little boy was behind the mom. Well just as the little boy runs back by, he stops, crouches down and starts drinking Doobie's pop from the straw! It was so funny. Then Doobie looks over and sees him and goes "hey!" and starts laughing. The lady was so embarrassed. She apologised like, three times. Doobie and I were sitting there cracking up for like, five minutes...lol.
So after we ate lunch at the park we came back here and played a game of cribbage, which I won, btw..: D. That doesn't happen very often. I got an awesome hand for my first hand which put me way ahead, and even though Doobie caught up pretty well, I still came out on top.
We then left the apartment again to go grab drinks at McDonalds, and go on a hike on the hiking trail through the old growth forest out by Lewisburg. It's OSU's study forest for the forestry program, but the hiking trail is public. The hike was really fun. Except when these two dogs ran up to us (their owners were too far behind to see them -_-) and one started growling at us. It ran away with it's doggie friend and then came back again running around and growled at us again. Doobie yelled back to the people to call their dogs. We couldn't see them, so I don't know if they ever heard Doobie. I was too busy hiding behind him to notice....I do not appreciate dogs that seem angry and have a free range at my body..lol.
So anyways, we continued on the trail, making sure to let the people and their dogs pass us first. After a little bit we came to the bridge and I noticed that there was a steep, trail-like path in the dirt that was gong up the hill. Doobie and I took a detour off the trail and up this really steep hill to where this big huge tree was, and behind it a fairly secluded tiny little clearing. : D. It was cool. So after a few minutes we went back down the hil back onto the path and continued along looking at flowers such as trilliums and other interesting plants, and talking about riding a bike along the trail (which I wouldn't try btw because it's fairly steep in many places and it's very much a downhill cliff anywhere around the trail.) We finally finished the trail, and came out back on the gravel road where we stopped at salamander lake, this small, secluded pond-like lake filled with salamanders. It is a cool little pond/lake like body of water. We walked back to the gravel road just talking about the future, and whatever else we wanted to talk about. It was a wonderful hike. It was so nice to just be able to talk for so long about anything in the world we wanted to talk about. We had so much opportunity to talk throughout the day, about personl things and fun things and lots of other things. We decided today that we are going spend time alone every Saturday, at least part of the day if not all day, unless something is going on with friends or family or something. We just haven't taken so much alone time for a long time and we really missed it. Sure we have an hour or two alone here and there but it's nothing like today. It was wonderful.
We then went back to the car and finished our drinks and proceeded to drive up 29th street (stopping at a "for rent" sign so I could take down a number at a house that was renting the bottem level out) towards campus. I saw another for rent sign in front of a cute house farther up and we stopped to check that one out too. We then went to campus and winded around until we got to the library (partially my fault as I wasn't paying attention to the roads..lol). We explored the library for a little bit trying to find a quiet place to sit and do our bible study. We settled on a small place on the 4th floor in the corner and we read the first chapter in the book of John. The we talked about what we had just read (seperately in our own respective bibles, Doobies being a NKJV and mine being the Message). It was an interesting bible study. From my reading, and with the help of Doobie and my discussion I gained new perspectives about the work that John did for Jesus and also drew some parallels between John's teachings and actions and our own purpose as Christians. We then prayed and talked for a little bit about this and than (after smiting eachother with our bibles..lol) and then decided we wanted ice cream from dairy queen. So off we went to Dairy queen, which was jam packed inside..lol. Poor Manda! I got a Banana cream pie blizzard and Doobie got a Banana split with only stwawberry topping and whipped cream. It was good. We sat and talked some more about Star Wars books and movies. During our discussion, one of Manda's workers brought this receipt up to me and said he was told to deliver it to me. I opened it up and it said "Rachel is the best roomate ever". Manda is awesome. : D.
So after Dairy Queen Doobie and I drove back to the apartment to hang out. I took Cara home to get some...stuff for tomorow..: D. We came back here and we might watch Boondock Saints later. Doobie is reading his book, which also sounds appealing. : D. Manda just got home so I'm gonna go in the living room to hang out now. Tomorow will also be a fun day. Doobie and Cara and Manda and I are going on a date to Old Spaghetti Factory in Portland. : D. We are also going to be doing something for Mike that we ment to do a couple weeks ago..: D. We are also going to Manda's church tomorow too instead of VCC because there is going to be a presentation about Manda's mission trip. They are showing pictures and everything..: D.
So I will hopefully talk to y'all soon!
Peace out!
