East River Walkway

Sponsored by the New York Society for the Relief of the Ruptured and Crippled. I'm not sure which sounds worse.

By the river is the oldest stonework I've seen in NY. That seems like it could be a lot more interesting to me than anyone else. Big, erratic slabs support the buildings on top. I think there are apartments in there. Good views, but a little bleak inside, with FDR drive traffic going by right outside, and the weight of all the buildings pressing down on top.

From ground-level, Manhattan, Queens has no depth. There are condos by the waterfront, trees in park at the edge, some chimneys behind, and nothing else.

A police cutter with two outboard motors goes noisily past, leaving a bubbly wake, a white smoke-trail in the water.
