things I've done today

  • Bought a copy of around the World in Eight Days. I was tempted when I saw it outside the Amnesty bookshop for 20p. Then I picked it up and discovered that on the front cover it had Wallace and Gromit. SOLD.
  • Found out that if you go into the butcher's/deli, point at the huge selection of cheeses and ask for one of each, they'll throw you out. "What if you're from the International Cheese Society?" "Well then you should know better."
  • Spent too much money on serrano ham. Though it is delicious.
  • Bought crumpets to smuggle in to America.
  • Found out that according to Nietzsche, all great philosophers are unmarried. The only exception to this rule is Socrates, who married ironically.
  • Realised how much like pokemon fundamental particles are. TOP QUARK used GRAVITY. It's not very effective.
  • Won three games of C&C: Ancients against Dom, despite accidentally not taking all my units in the first battle and having completely ineffective super-heavy cavalry in the last. The second game Dom lost, when his warrior charge went catastrophically wrong.
  • Tried out Hill 218, a little tactical card game. Lost all four games against Dom, then lots of games against the AI in the java client, before finally getting one victory against it (I'm not sure how).
  • Made sweet & sour chicken stir fry. Must remember to make more sauce next time.
