What was this terrifying HIGH STREET HORROR!?
It was the terrifying prospect of PEOPLE BUYING LESS STUFF THAN THEY HAD BEFORE. How much less stuff? Have sales collapsed to half of what they were? Crashed to a nerve-shattering third? Well no, they're down by about 10%. People are buying almost 10% less DIY and electrical items than they were last year.
Rather scary for the people who work for these shops, but really, I think this is high street horror, and even this (not that anyone really needs linking to those stories). Electrical sales falling to 90% of the level they were last year? It's not setting my heart jumping.
