down came the sky, and all you did was blink

I want you the way you are.

Not with expensive clothes you don't feel comfortable in, not with gadgets you can't use, not with friends you don't like, not taking classes you hate, not with fake smiles to make other people happy, not living in a town that makes you feel trapped, not with having to put up with people you can't stand, not with "I'm happy, I'm happy" stuck on repeat in your head.

I want you the way you are, with lazy smiles, weird red marks on your face, snorting while laughing once in a while, being happy, feeling content with everything and making me swell with contentment every time I notice you feel perfect.

She's dragging luggage out of her front door, dry rain dripping on her back, wetting her hair, but she doesn't feel uncomfortable. No makeup in her eyes or lips or cheeks, several red marks in her palms from dragging luggage from her bedroom. There are no letters with little drawings and pressed leaves, no boxes filled with polaroids of moments that probably meant something and probably still do. She's not running away because she's unhappy, oh no dear! She's just running away because she needs change.

Just change.
