Hahahahaha I haven't updated this since last year. I was under no delusions that I was, in fact, of a blogger personality, but I do still have OPINIONS!!1 about MLP collecting.
I still have all those purchases I listed in an earlier entry to clean, plus a Galaxy I just won! I LOVE TWINKLE EYES SO MUCH. And so does everyone else, so I get into bidding wars, but I DON'T CARE. It's not even just about the creepy insect eyes, which are admittedly pretty rad when you think about it (giving horses compound vision seems like a recipe for disaster), it's the COLORS. The TE's have such awesome color combinations!
Before I wrap this up, because I havenothing left to say and no recent pictures to post, tell me: WHO HERE IS FUCKIN' STOKED FOR THE LAUREN FAUST MLP CARTOON STARRING APPLEJACK? ME, THAT'S WHO. Faust's cartoon pedigree is admirable, the major highlights including animating forThe Iron Giant, and storyboarding, writing, and directing both Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls. She's been quoted in interviews about her love for the MLP line as a child, so the source material is close to her heart.
Of course, because most MLP collectors - scratch that, all collectors - are whiny and dislike change, they're already complaining about the minimalist style of the first official artwork, as well as the styling of the toys. Which is ridiculous because Faust has said she's trying to reintroduce a fantasy adventure aspect to the series, a major fan complaint since G3 started. Plus, simpler character models would be easier to animate, so the show would look a lot better than the 80s series does. Because as entertaining as the show was, it's impossible to even begin to argue that it's above average in quality. The 80s were an unfortunate decade for animation art.
TL;DR: New entry, new pony, new cartoon, new summer. Maybe I'll try to upkeep this better.
