Every three months or so I get the urge to post in livejournal. Like I think that maybe this time, I'll actually start posting consistently again. What is it about the idea that people care enough about your life that you need to write a whole blog about it? I guess facebook has kind of supplanted blogging. I guess I could find all my status updates and post them in here and it'd be the same thing, eh ;)
Anyways, so what's new in the glorious world of Liza? I'm gonna be like Nicky's old blog and make sections!
On Life
Life has actually been quite good lately. This move to Pittsburgh, while not wholey productive on the job front has definitely been productive on my happiness. I do miss being close to friends, but I do NOT miss living with tons of people. Me, Nicky and Chloe have a nice little family atmosphere going on now. I think having to rely on each other without the distraction of friends has been a huge improvement on our lives. Even though money has been tight, and Nicky's still struggling to find a job in his field, I'm just all around happier. Happier in life and in my marraige. I haven't been this close to him since we first got together and were in our blissful courtship phase. I get off work around 7:00 and he gets off work at 9:00pm. So I have time to actually cook us a nice homemade dinner a few nights a week. I feel quite domestic. Sometimes I even cook barefoot (but not pregnant) in the kitchen ;)
On Work
My new job at Cricket isn't too bad. It had a rough start. Cricket customers in Pittsburgh are very different from Verizon customers in Indiana. My old Verizon customers used to adore me. Here, people are just cranky all the time. I think they're starting to warm up to me, but Cricket customers have an obnoxious sense of entitlement for someone who can't afford to get "a real plan." I'm getting used to getting yelled at more. And the job is almost identical to what I used to do. Just with different phones and plans. My coworker is absolutely awesome. We get along really well, which makes the job a lot easier. My boss is NOT a dickhead like all my old ones. I actually have health insurance! A pretty decent benefits package. And paid sick days! I've never had those before! Over all, this seems like one of the most reputable companies i've worked for. But time will really tell on that one.
On Nicky's Work
Thankfully, Nicky has been able to find a job and one that doesn't pay too poorly. We actually both found our jobs through the temp agency. His job involves processing forms to get appraisals done on home loans - or something like that. It's a lot of computer and data entry work with some calling to realtors to process the actual appraisals. It's defintely not a great job, by any means, but it does pay the bills! The shity economy has hit his job hunt pretty hard. We're still hoping that he'll be able to find something in his field. It sucks that he has a master's degree and can only get work doing something a high school grad could perform. But such is life I suppose! I'm just glad we both have reliable employment!
On the Family
As I said, we've been quite the happy family lately. Chloe is as frisky as ever. We keep expecting her to lose some of her playfulness, but she never does. We can barely keep up sometimes. We think she's starting to put on some weight, so I'm gonna have to start taking her for longer walks now that the weather is getting warmer. Which works out cause I need to get more exercise myself. I've joined a gym and go once or twice a week - which is better than nothing, I suppose. Since January, I've lost about 10 lbs, which isn't huge, but still a success! I just wish I didn't have a job that had so much downtime. Being bored makes me eat!
Well, I suppose that's all the exciting stuff for now! I'll probably see ya'll again in another 3 months ;)
