[Kozha] WoW - Keeping Busy!

"And this charm will keep away the evil spirits?" the pandaren asked.

Kozha nodded back and tapped a large, thick finger on the small totem.  "Dat it will," he said.  "Just put it in yah doorway, and it'll keep out da bad ones."

The pandaren man bowed gratefully and quickly ran off.  The young Darkspear man loved the forest, the vibrant greens and the wild overgrowth.  It reminded him a bit of home and the jungles.  Kozha smiled, turning away and walking slowly back to the camp.  He had been grateful when the draft came, it helped to keep his mind off of other things.  Why hasn't she returned?  Is her spirit lost?  Her body empty--

He shook his head and rubbed at his eyes, clearing away the thoughts and the hot tears he could feel starting to build up.  He and Quet had been shipwrecked here for a little while now and he'd been using his abilities to speak with and help calm the restless spirits of the land.  Some they calmed together, with fire, bowshots and the furious claws and fangs of his sister's animals.  Others he calmed with his gifts and his songs, grandma's lessons recalled and made real.

There was much work to be done; after a few days the locals had heard of his talents.  They were very interested in communicating with the spirits, and they showed him much respect as well.  It had been so long since he had felt respected, and needed.  Even during his short time as chief of Ziondeh, he felt that few there saw him as more than either a stepping stone or a stumbling block.  Then when Lueli had disappeared ... he slowed and closed his eyes, letting his breaths come deep and slow, recalling grandma's lessons to help focus and keep calm.

She answers the call of her ancestors, as you do, Kozha, he thought to himself.  You love her and she loves you, even if you will not see her again until you pass beyond into the next world.  He felt a knot building in his throat and swallowed it down.  It rested in his stomach, sour and aching, but he managed to keep his face from showing the pain.

He hummed to himself as he walked back to the camp.  A busy mind is a happy mind, he thought to himself.
