Hey strangers ^^;
I realized it's been like, about a half a year since my last entry, so here's something to at least let ya know that I'm still alive and somewhat kicking...
Best news first, I got a new job!!
More on that later...
Before job-yay-ness, let's take a break to tell the tale of a moment of total, un-abashed fangirl-ing by yours truly. Having received my tax refund last week, I was able to afford tickets to visit Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood (from Whose Line is it Anyway?) for a third, yes third time. Unfortunately, they were performing in Ithaca, NY, which is about a 3.5 hour drive each way. The show took place on Sat. May 3.
Luckily, jason likes to drive, and since he left me all by myself the weekend before to take a mini trip/vacation himself, he owed me this time!
In any case, I was going to leave work early at 2pm (instead of the normal 5pm, so we wouldn't have to rush the drive there), but I was feeling super nauseous at around 11am... I thought I could make it, but the longer I waited (and the slower and more slower time went by), I began to realize that just wasn't going to work. So, after being annoyed at my manager (yes, the same one as last entry's plastic bag incident), I left around 11:30. Stopped at rite aid to get some pepto, and headed home. Took some pepto and decided to try and rest for a couple hours before jason came to pick me up.
No such luck.
I was feeling just as yucky by the time he arrived, and I didnt know if I could handle the 3hour+ car ride when I needed to run to the bathroom every 10mins... but he and my mom convinced me to go, assuring me that I would be kicking myself if I didn't go.
The ride there was bumpy, in more ways than one, but we somehow made it to Ithaca, nearly 2 hours before the show start. I had barely eaten anything during the day due to feeling so icky, so we found a small restaurant to grab a bite. The restaurant faced out onto a common-area street (it was an open-air mall/shopping centre basically), and while we ate, I commented that I always wondered what Colin and Brad did before a show. Do they practice/warm up? Just hang out at their hotel and relax?? Walk the town/city?
I joked that it would be funny if they happened to walk by outside in the commons, and I would keep watch at the window just in case, never expecting it to actually happen.
Little did I know, that approximately 30mins later, IT DID HAPPEN.
There, out the window, less than 100feet away, I first saw Colin, and... still in disbelief, then saw Brad walking beside him! I nearly had a heart attack as I pointed at the window and burst out with "Oh my god, THERE THEY ARE!!!!!" Jason urged me on~ "Go!! Go and see them!!"
Here is where I freaked out to the tenth power~ I didn't know what to do, what to say, how I would approach them, would I offend them??? I made several attempts to try and get out of my chair, but my legs wouldn't work. Jason urged me on, and finally I jumped out of my chair and rushed out of the restaurant (Jason didn't go, lest we get in trouble for a dine n' dash, as we hadn't paid for dinner yet).
I jogged outside (as several of the other restaurant patrons looked at me funny) and followed along behind Colin and Brad (and their manager/agent I assume) and finally managed to squeak out some words. "Could I say hello?? please??"
They stopped and turned around when I spoke.
I said hello, and how me and my fiancee just drove over 3 hours to come and see the show, and that we were really sad when they couldn't make it to buffalo last year. Colin said "Yeah we were sad too."
( I dunno he meant it or not, but who cares!)
He shook my hand after I managed to introduce myself and tell him that I'd seen him twice already in other places. I managed to then ask if I could have a hug~ and he said yes~!
So I got to hug Colin Mochrie!! He's a pretty small guy in person~ but he humored me and let me give him a big hug (I didn't want to be rude and smoosh him).
A passerby on the street saw me talking to them, and pointed at Colin "oh my god it's YOU!" and asked if she could have a picture. At this point I was damning myself for not remembering my own camera, which was back in the restaurant in my purse!! But I took a photo of her with Colin (which may have turned out shaky, as my hands were 50% jello at the moment and wouldn't stop wiggling). Their manager/agent took another photo of her with both Colin and Brad. Colin waved and said "Hope you enjoy the show later!"
I thanked him profusely (and still kicked myself over forgetting the camera), and jogged back to the restaurant. I thought my heart was gonna pop out of my chest xD!!
I could barely sit still as I picked at my salad, and shortly after we made our way back to the theater and checked in, found our seats. The show was, in a word, HILARIOUS. I swear they get more and more funny with each show I see. I won't go over every game, or this entry would be umpteen pages long... BUT I will tell you they played "The most Dangerous Improv Game" of them all!
The formula: Place 100 live mouse traps across the stage area (the spring-loaded kinds, just like as seen in many a Tom & Jerry cartoon), Place blindfolds on each participant, and Remove shoes and socks, rendering completely bare feet. Perform the next scene/skit in this condition, regardless of imminent danger.
I give these guys lots of credit for subjecting themselves to such a sadistic game xD! The entire show lasted nearly 3 whole hours (8pm to 11pm, with only a short 10-15min intermission), and afterwards, me, jason, and about 30 other watchers waited down near the stage. About 20mins later, Colin and Brad came back out, sat at a table on stage, and autographed the backs of the mouse traps for us to have~! I was finally able to get my photo with them at last!!
Granted, it would've been better to get a shot on the street, but I'll take what I can get. I got 2 photos with them (jason included), and after thanking them over and over (they did recognize me from outside! I told them both I hope their feet are okay, and I'll send them some slippers (if I could get their addresses- which I doubt- I would do it, really!). I was tempted to ask for another hug, but they both seemed very tired out, understandably, so after receiving our mousetraps, we headed out.
SO, not only did I get to see a third Colin & Brad show, I got to meet and talk to them in person (twice!), got an autographed mousetrap, AND got to hug Colin~!! Very very very good end of the day that started out so crappily.
I will also note that I dreamed of the experience that same night~ seriously I did! xD
I dreamt Colin and Brad showed up at the restauarant jason and I were eating at, and sat down to eat with us! It almost seemed real... unfortunately it wasn't xD!!
I slept like a rock that night~
(( I have a few photos from the show, which I still need to scan~ will post later!! Bug me to make me do it faster!! xD ))
