More work-related bitching

Where I work strongly centers around the AA version of Christianity. It puts "saved" on a whole new level. If you're not doing it, you're obviously in denial. If nothing else, it's definitely made me a little edgier where religion is concerned. Over the past week, I've discovered two brand new examples:

1) There are several places where related articles and such are posted by the staff. One of the posted items was this one:

An atheist professor was teaching a college class and
he told the class that he was going to prove that there
is no God. He said, "God, if you are real, then I want
you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"

Ten minutes went by. He kept taunting God,
saying, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting."

He got down to the last couple of minutes and a
Marine just returned from the Gulf and released from
active duty and newly registered in the class walked up
to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and
sent him flying from his platform. The professor
struggled up, obviously shaken and yelled, "What's
the matter with you? Why did you do that?"

The Marine replied, "God was busy watching
over my buddies engaged in combat."

Oh, yeah. I was pissed.

2) This one happened today. I heard two of the nurses in their area, laughing their asses off about a new patient(s?) with a "Muslim" name. One stated clearly, "You can't be Muslim and American." They laughed about this, joking that they better watch what they say, otherwise they would be killed by a terrorist. I'm seriously, seriously considering reporting it, but I can't figure out a good person to tell. The head nurse would probably just laugh and agree.

And now I should actually get back to writing/researching. Or popping more ibuprofen. Something along those lines.

rl, work, religion
