Progress in Middle Earth.

So, been about two weeks since LotRO went free to play and I have to say that it's worked out beautifully (once the initial server issues were solved). The lower levels are now pulsing with people, advice channels are brimming with questions, and lots of people are starting sentences with "So I just bought stuff on the store..." or "So I just subscribed..." This is a sign that the game is absolutely going to get a huge boost from all this, which is good for everyone.

Low level areas are full of people and the middle areas are at least moderately increased. The high level areas are where most of the population was anyway, so any increase there later will just be a neat bonus. Overall, the community doesn't seem any worse for wear and the game's outlook is better than ever.

Unfortunately, the kinship I was with split apart due to bizarre drama (I never understood drama in MMOs), and I'm still holding off from joining either of the remains until I'm sure they're staying around. Thankfully, there's enough people in the game that a kinship isn't as necessary as it once was, but it's still the way the game's meant to be played.

Bottom line here is that NO ONE I know has joined in yet (well, Trev has, but he has yet to make in-game contact). So yeah, go sign up. It's perfectly painless and pretty instant. Get on the Landroval server and we'll go find taters or cleave orcs in twain. However you roll.
