...Proof that the voice is an invaluable part of a character
*twitches* Just watched the first episode of the English dub of Gurren Lagann...
THEY BUTCHERED KAMINA!! How can you do that? He lost all of his manly-manliness! 'Tis blasphemy I say!
Now you have to realized I usually don't care about English dubs vs Original Japanese, quite often I like them both and don't have a preference to what I watch. But this dub is just BAD. B-A-D.
The whole point of Kamina was that he was the most awesome among the awesome-ness, but now he just sounds...bland to put it lightly. He doesn't have the same strength behind his voice that made him so epic and while he has the same body, it seems he has an entirely different personality.
For you transformers fans out there, the best way I could describe it is if Jazz's voice was suddenly replaced. Our favorite special-ops agent wouldn't be the same without his voice! It's just part of his character.
But all in all, interesting what a voice change can do, neh?
