Resource Action Update
Yesterday I was pretty out of it, and I got NO sleep last night.
But today is a slightly better day.
Here's the deal...
a) Voluntarily resign from IBM, which give me a severance package.
b) Not resign and be canned... no benefits.
c) Set up a "plan" with my manager where I have to meet certain goals. He as much as admitted nothing I could do would satisfy him.
d) Find anothre job in IBM by the end of February.
This last option is showing some promise. The manager whose office is next to mine, is friendly with me. He is looking for two testers for his parallel file system. I spoke with him, and he said speak to the team leader, and then come back to him.
A buddy in Connecticut spoke with our old manager, who is interested in helping me, as I found out in an email this morning.
I do have a call into HR, and a rep called me back this morning... I need to call somebody in Austin Texas who handles my group. I also have a meeting with my manager's manager tomorrow.
They are getting rid of 40 people here... this is becoming a yearly thing in IBM. They get rid of some and hire new people.
If it weren't for all my friends, I'd be taking all of this a lot harder....
