I saw two flicks this weekend.

"The Magdalene Sisters" made me feel violent. I honestly wanted to take a baseball bat to nuns after seeing this flick. Seriously. And that is so not me. But I REALLY HATE when people who are alledged Christians use the name of GOD to oppress others. And what is scary is that this story was basically true. And this happened in Ireland of all places, not too long ago.

I thought "Butterfly Effect" sucked. I'm not even going to go into the problems I had with it.

Saturday I became sick, and just vegged on the sofa watching "The Barbarians" on The History Channel. Good shows... not great... but good.

Sunday nmorning, though sick, I went to "The River Church" in Pougfhkeepsie, NY. It's a non-denominational church. I wsa told it's "laid back". It sure was. You may come dressed as you are. And when I go there, I was treated to a rock concert !!! They had a band with two keyboardists, drummer in a soundproof drum booth, bass player, guitar player, two backup singers, and the main singer dude playing acoustic. They had a full blown PA system with soundman, and an audio visual show !!! A woman spoke, who was from the New York State Dept. for Juvenille Corrections or something like that. She is the statewide coordinator for volunteer services. Well long story short, a few years ago, after trying psychologists and other such experts, this woman suggested faith based programs. And they have worked !!! Recedivism has dropped dramatically, and kids have a more positive attitude toward education, and seem to have developed more pride in themselves. Gov. Pataki has not balked at the program, and brass are coming down from Albany this week to learn more aboot her program. So yay for her I say.

The harddrive in my new IBM Stinkpad died today... the day I had something due. I'm supposed to get a new hard drive tomorrow. And then some UNIX based server that lets me access a Windows system fudged up, and the people at IBM HELPless were of no use. FINALLY somebody, after numerous calls, was able to help me. The really frustrating thing is that this problem happens ALOT. I know waht the solution is... somebody on the other end has to reset a Lotus Notes server. But these trained monkeys have to argue with me, and waste my time jumping through hoops that will never lead to a solution. I often wonder how IBM actually sells products. DO external customers get help this bad ?

So I'm not in a great mood at the moment. At least I'm meeting some friends tonight for Monday Night RAW.

My glucose keeps dropping... I really hope to get off the meds. I'm taking a few days off from the gym since I'm still kind of sick, and my lower back is acting up. It's not worth it to risk injuring myself, so leg squats are temporarilly off the menu. Caridio workouts will be less intense.

I spoke with Svetlana yesterday. I had sent her a soundfile of the Russian lessons I do. She told me that the speakers on the CD have a "Moscow accent". She said it would be the equivalent of an "Atlanta accent". SO I found that to be a hoot and a holler. :-) I then teased her aboot the forthcoming film "The Miracle". She claims to not understand the significance of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team. I think she was playing dumb. :-) WHen I told her that the US beat The Rooskis, she said something like "And who are bad guys ?" I replied "The Rooskis of course !!!" :-) That didn't seem to sit well with Svetlana.

Oh, I saw Amadeus Friday night at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House. It was the Director's Cut which I had never seen before. I love that movie, even if it's not historically accurate.

I should try to get SOMETHING done today at work...
