I am now sort of officially hooked on "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy".
On one hand, it really is a harmless, silly show with no political agenda. On another level it DOES kind of bother me only because I think it preaches a little bit of materialism.
I think Carson should get his own sitcom. The dude has SOOOOOOO many great lines. I think Jai brings nothing to the party.
A few of my friends and I kind of have bought into the show. I've been going nuts cleaning my apartment, something I mever do. My friend "D" has been picking up interior design tips, and actually bought some "product" (wrinkle cream). I caught "J" with a nail file !!!
But I've been having this recurring dream where the Fab 5 break into my apartment in the middle of the night, in a surprise inspection. Carson finds wire hangers in my closet, and beats me with them. He makes fun of me for wearing nothing except Rugby shirts and shorts and white socks. Kyan reads me the riot act for having NO product whatsoever in my place, and for using an electric razor. Thom has a coronary because my place looks like a frathouse room, and for the cluttered and neat and orderly look. He does feel sorry for me when he sees my DVD collection, so he brings me a plasma TV. Same with Ted... he knows I'm learning how to cook, and buys me a nice set of All-Clad pans. Jai does nothing, because he brings nothing to the party.
I've actually flirted with the idea of applying to be on the show. I really do think I could score my plasma HDTV out of the deal. But I couldn't handle Carson going through my boxers on TV.
Regardless, I enjoy the show when I catch it. My friends and I have gotten in touch with our metrosexual selfs. :-)
