Paris:
where to begin?
People may think that one of the most impressive sights to see in Paris is the Eiffel Tower. I stumbled upon it today while turning off of the Champs Eleys; It is beautiful, though I can't help but think the reason everyone is so excited to see it is because it is a symbol of Paris. I have met people here who get chills visiting it for the fourth time. I think the Tower is worth a trip, mais it was not necessarily on the top of my "to do" list. I like much more to visit the gardens and parks because they seem like they are bursting with national pride and individuality. I also love noticing it's people. The women here are absolutely phenomenal. They are not even the most beautiful; their elegance may certainly be described by the phrase: "Je ne said quoi". Every woman is healthy looking - you do not see a fat Parisian. In fact, the only fat people I have seen have been the American tourists! Each woman has this wonderful sense of self that is described physically through her clothing and accessories. In the States, women learn to take on a certain masculinity. It is suggested by our culture that for a woman to move with assertion is to show confidence and a sense of self. Here, woman seem to be delicate. This fragility is shown from their relaxed shoulders to the softness in their faces. No hair straightening and the like are present. It is typical to see a French woman wear her hair long and mussy, suggesting a certain tousled look - it is very sexy. Additionally, their sense of fashion is nothing short of genius. They do not seem to follow too many trends. This is not to say that the clothes are not new or have trendy aspects, but it seems that instead of replicating a mannequin, these women mix and match and add accessories to create a look that is significant.
Laying in the grass today in the park, I saw a lot of children. I can't help but think about how lucky they are to grow up in such culturally rich environment. Not only does Paris have the history, it has a sort of child-like gentleness as well. Some say Paris is for lovers, but I am leaning more towards it being for children because of the intricate attention to a happy beauty and the class of it people. To be a child in Paris seems as if it might feel like a fairy-tale in which reality has no boundaries. The imaginative landscape of Paris is nothing short of a suggestion that life is as wonderful as you so choose.
