Because it is in the middle of the day, the family (which does seem to grow daily, and not in the usual manner) are mostly out and about, on some errands or visiting with friends, or doing whatever it is they do with their infinite time. Lynet doesn't care, they could be off trying to invent a new kind of mousetrap for all she cares. The only thing ( Read more... )

Well, here's another savage girl who would prefer not to cry. Karla having been hunting with unexpected savagery, alternating between rage that ends with magic-pulverized rabbits and tears that dissolve her into a puddle on the ground. She's just finished ripping another rabbit to shreds when her eyes turn to a dark, seemingly empty house, the perfect candidate for some more satisfying destruction.

So, she throws the door open with a bang and prowls into the kitchen, her eyes flicking around without interest as she looks for a hatchet or something more satisfying than Jewel strength to help with ripping apart a cottage.

Assuming that it's simply one of the many who live in this house, Lynet immediately jumps up off the bed and rubs furiously at her eyes, reddening them further than they already are, but at least wiping away the most obvious evidence of tears. "Who is it?" she calls out in a slightly rough voice, entering the kitchen -- to stop, startled, on the threshold.

"Who are you?"

Karla probably looks rather frightening, with a tear ravaged face cut in a few places, her pale hair spiky and her ice blue eyes wild. She whirls in a moment, calling in a knife at the sound of something moving, and stops, blinking at the woman. A pause.

"You live here?" Her voice is also rather rough, but more from a snarl than from tears.

"Yes, I live here!" she snaps back. "What are you doing in here? Where did you come from? --and put that knife down!"

More of a snarl as Karla's hackles go up. She doesn't lower the knife. "I was looking for something to rip to shreds after I finished the last rabbit," she snarls savagely. "And obviously I came out of the woods."

Her hackles have just now gone up? Lynet's are there by default.

She draws herself up to her full height, glaring with patented Lynet DeathGlaretm at the intruder. "Get out," she says coldly.

Karla draws herself up as well, giving Lynet her best Queen stare, her Gray Jewels sparking with extra energy. "Don't tell me what to do," she snarls.

"This is my house," she hisses. "You cannot simply barge into a person's home, looking for something to 'rip to shreds' -- get out."

Feeling stung by that reminder that she's not behaving as she should, Karla snaps back, "Why should I listen to you, anyway? You're just a landen."

This is the point at which the kitchen door swings open and bangs solidly against the counter, a noise which, as usual, heralds the advent of Clarissant, carrying a basket over one arm and looking none too pleased with the scene in her hallway.

"Get out," she says to Karla, "Don't have time for it. All right, Lynet? I got chamomile."

"Oh, good," Lynet says shortly. "You deal with her, then. Chamomile--we'll have tea. I'll boil the water, you may throw it in that wretch's face."

"Fair," Clar says, and looks steadily at Karla.

Well. Karla looks distinctly annoyed, but now a little more guilty than annoyed. She backs off. "Fine," she says with as much ferocity as she can muster. "I hope you're more polite to those of your own kind." And with that, she'll stalk out of the house and back into the woods.

"Thank God she's gone," Lynet mutters, watching Karla's retreating back. "Can't have a moment's peace but there's lunatics bursting in with knives."
