A happy ending only comes when you stop the story. I never really thought of that before, but now that I have... am sort of confused. In my years of reading and writing, the ending has always been the hardest part for me to write or finish. If it happens, and it happens well, it's because I wrote it far enough in advance to know what the middle needs to build up to.
Most of the time it doesn't work like that.
Most of the time, I start stories and they have no ending.
What if the happy ending that I've always been aiming for is mostly disappointing because the story is over? What then? Maybe I come to abrupt or unhappy endings in chapters of life because I need the story to continue.
