Seven fears or phobias. I don't know if I have seven but let's see...
1. I have an irrational fear of being in water where I cannot see land. You seriously would have to put a gun to a loved one's head to make me board a cruise ship. I'm fine if I can see the shore, but the thought of nothing but ocean terrifies me.
2. The thought of not being able to breathe terrifies me. I once listened to a podcast about hospice and people dying. I was surprised to find that in hospice they give people narcotics to combat this very fear. It comforted me to know that they fuzz out that fear for the hospice folks. I can't imagine how awful it would be to feel yourself suffocating.
3. I have a fear of my husband dying. I have lots of people who love me, but I would feel so lonely if he weren't around.
4. I have a fear of outliving my children.
5. Scorpions still scare the shit out of me, even though I've been stung by one and they are farily commonplace out here.
As hard as I tried to think of two more, I can't. I guess I should be happy to know I fear so few things!
