Knitting update time.

River: I found my groove with River. Finally. I can do a repeat in an hour, which is probably not super-fast, but it's much faster than I had been knitting it. I am in the middle of my 6th repeat. And my mom will be here next Friday. I've been really stressing about it, because it requires attentive knitting and because I've been so busy with work and life, not to mention being quite sick. So I decided that I am not going to stress about it anymore. I am not going to even try to get it done for Friday. I'm not even going to mention it to my mom. We've already sent her and her husband a big Christmas present so I am going to work on this when I'm more relaxed and maybe it can be her birthday present next year. Stress off. Yay.

Rogue: I've got only about 3-4 inches left to do on the hood. Then I've got to do my sleeves. I had put this aside to work on River but also I needed a break. Knitting that hood is kind of a drag. It's been taking forever and I'm ready to move on. I'll pick it up again maybe next week.

Tali's yellow hat: Tali's favorite color is yellow. Today I cast-on and finished a simple hat for her. I just need to add a pom-pom, which I may do tonight. I knit the whole thing in about 3 hours: during her gymnastics class, during Kalen's karate class and finished it during Survivor.

Manos cardigan: I am the QUEEN of eternal WIPs. I *think* I finally decided on my neckband/buttonband scheme. I matched the neckband with the hemmed edges and will probably do an applied i-cord for the buttonband. I tried on my cardigan again and I'm not particularly happy with it. It's probably more cropped than I wanted it to be, and the sleeves: they are slightly tight, and they are too long. argh. It *is* my first adult-sized sweater. Aren't first sweaters always supposed to suck? But I've made enough kid and baby sweaters you'd think I'd have my act together by now. Fuck.

Manos Cotton Stria kid vest: Another eternal WIP. I ignored the edging on this for too long. I decided to finally finish it and realized I FUCKED UP. Like the left front is perhaps 4 rows longer than the right. Fuck. I *know* I compared the two sides as I was knitting the second one. Now I have to rip that out. Where'd I get this bad knitting karma? I *never* fuck up like this. I'm not being snobby or anything with that statement, it's just that I'm so freaking anal that I fix things before they get out of hand.

Next up: I'm going to whip up a pair of yellow mittens to match Tali's new hat. She keeps asking for mittens, she'll be so happy. I'm itching to make some gauntlets out of my remaining Malabrigo to match my Coronet hat. My cold hands are begging for them.

I also want to make arm warmers for the girls out of my leftover sock yarn, arm warmers that go halfway up their arms, with a hole for the thumb, that they can wear under their regular gloves. The purpose of these will be to eliminate that cold spot on your wrists you always get when you're a kid.

Well, that was long-winded. Apologies to anyone who actually read all this.
