When someone asks you to make a critical review of something/someone, the first thing you think of is probably: "Yeah, that's easy! Let's do it." Yeah, not really.
That's my crisis for this week--Taking something you love and then putting it under the spotlight. Why do you like it? Why is it so creative? How did they [the creators] do it? What happened before that? What were the influences? Why? And more why?
It's all about the 'whys' and then viewing it more deeply, going further.
In two weeks time, I will be going to critically review a topic of my own choosing. And for that I chose "Running Man".
Running Man is a South Korean urban action variety show. I reckon that the reason for the description is because of the games that they do in the game. You almost always see the cast running here and there as well as the equally exhaustive name-tag ripping.
I first discovered the show through my older sister when I accidentally watched episode 52, the very first of the Running Man Hunting series. It was intriguing, really. I was hooked immediately 'cause I haven't seen a show like it before and not to mention that I have a soft spot for anything relating to action/suspense. As I continued to watch more episodes, it only fortified my initial impression of Running Man: "This looks interesting." ---> "This IS interesting."
(Running Man Superpower Special) <-- yeah, you heard it right. Superpowers! How crazy is that?! xD
If something bores you, then that means you've seen it before or maybe it's just not your type of tea. Running Man eliminates that boredom by continuously thinking of news games or re-inventing existing mechanics. The cast and the production staff display creativeness in that sense. It isn't necessarily about 'what's never been done before' but it can be about taking an idea and improving it. "What else can I do?" or "Can this be something more?" are the questions that I think will lead to an outcome.
Presentations are not my strong point but I really want to give justice to the show that I love so so much. I want my audience to be convinced that Running Man is as great as the words that I'll them. I believe in the saying that seeing is believing but I will still try to think of a way where I can capture the beauty of Running Man with words (and several pictures). :))
Dang, this is word vomit. But I just wanted to write something out of my mind about this. What the hell did I just write?? @_@
