House hunting with a really big gun
Update on the move: It went well except for the part where I had to call the cops because our downstairs neighbor is crazypants. Otherwise we're cool. More on that later.
Today we saw a couple of houses in our price range (around $200-250K) and were sorely disappointed. The area we like has only crappy houses in that price, and the houses we like are in crappy areas we don't want to live in. So Mike and I had a long talk tonight, about what we're looking for and what we can legitimately spend without exploding or starving.
We upped our budget to $350K, with a max of $380K or so if it's a really fantastic house. The listings in this range are FAR more promising, and Tuesday or Wednesday we're going to look around some houses in our new range. Wish me luck!
