Knitty gritty

Nov 25, 2006 05:26

I am really loving this whole knitting thing. Even beyond the whole "I am making wearables and using up time otherwise wasted on tv, etc." I am making FRIENDS. This may come as a surprise to some of you, who know that I don't easily make friends and that most of my complaints are "I have no friends anywhere (that is not Berkeley)."

My lovely new friend Cassie, who I met at belly-dancing, has introduced me to a bunch of her friends during our Stitch'n'Bitch sessions, in which we sit and knit/sew/crochet/whatever the hell crafty-type thing you want to do and talk. Talk a lot, about anything and everything, and laugh our asses off. (Poor Mike...he walked in while we were talking about ex-boyfriends and/or lays with enormous penises (penisi?) and just blanched. And then walked away quickly.)

Besides the knitting and the dancing, Cassie and I have shopped together (for yarn, which I spent entirely too much money on, and clothing, in which we both found adorable pirate shirts and more) and we talk entirely too much about our cats, and we are both happy/

So life, so far, is going well.

Tomorrow Cassie and Janie (another awesome chica) and I are going out to look for a futon for my spare room. We'll scope out Michael's on our way, to get more yarn(!) and needles(!) and then hit IKEA and WalMart and some furniture stores in my quest for something for Vickie and other guests to sleep on when they come to visit me. As well as something for ME to sleep on that is NOT the floor when the cats pee on the damn bed again.
