Yay! I finally got all (I think) of my podfic up at A03, so now I can actually do this podfic wrap-up meme I've seen around. :D
Stats:
69 podfics recorded, a lot of them were very short so altogether it only makes for 19:36:21. Two of these were in Swedish and one in Finish.
10 Torchwood/Doctor Who (only because I recorded that one series...)
10 Supernatural
6 Highlander
5 Babylon 5
3 Good Omens
2 Guns of Navarone
2 Fairy Tales
2 Equilibrium
2 T:SCC
One each of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Transformers: Beast Wars, Thor, X-men, Narnia, Criminal Minds, True Blood, Peter Pan, Leverage,, LOTR, Moonlight, Smallville, Iron Man, Firefly, Life on Mars, SPN RPF, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bible, Pan's Labyrinth
And (separate from the previous)
8 Crossovers (Criminal Minds/Leverage, Firefly/Deadwood, Smallville/Iron Man, SG1/BtVS, Smallville/Batman, Discworld/Torchwood, FFVII/Kingdom Hearts, X-men/Iron Man)
What was the best podfic you made this year?
I'm one of those people who's convinced that everything I make sucks, until someone comes along to tell me differently. So, this is a really hard question to answer. There's quite a few I like once I listen to them now (even though the background noise on some of them makes me cringe). I guess maybe
The Wasteland in the end I'm surprisingly happy with it.
Most popular?
...I don't know. Probably
The Wasteland or
That Padalecki Kid Most under appreciated?
The Myrrh-Bearer's Gospel because I never thought I'd read Bible fic.
Personal favorite, for whatever reason?
The Wasteland. It took me forever to make, it's the first longer story I ever started to record. At some point I ended up re-recording the whole story at least a few times, but in pieces and out of order. But in the end, I kinda like how it turned out.
Most difficult to make?
Weirdly enough
You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It), which is my own story. I've tried to record it quite a few times since I started podficcing (I kinda train on my own fic) and it never turned out quite right, so it became something of a challenge... in the end I posted my latest version of it, so I'd stop re-doing it over and over. :D
Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?
Ah, I'll try most things, but I suppose
The Myrrh-Bearer's Gospel. Like I said, I never thought I'd end up reading Bible fic.
Most fun to make?
Athelas. I like the Nordic names, though blending them with the English tends to make me roll my r's a bit too much all over the place. :)
Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?
You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It).
Biggest learning experience?
The Wasteland.
What's next?
Hopefully another of astolat's Thor fics.
Podfic Things I'm Proud Of
Talking to people.
And a general 2011-in-review meme that I yanked from... somewhere.
1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Overnight stay at hospital (quite a few nights actually).
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never make any. Seems useless.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Umm... what kind of question is this anyway? But no, because I'm only close to the father of the kids.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. Well, I hadn't really seen him much for a few years, but he was a good friend still.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. No monies.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Peace of mind.
7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm bad with dates. They never stay in my mind for long.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Somehow managing to keep my finances afloat. Barely.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Of all the things, weirdly enough the thing I feel worst about is the fact that I never wrote a fc for one of those charity auctions that I should have. :( I still feel horrible about that.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
The mobile phone for my sister.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mom and dad. Because they rock. And it was a shitty year for the whole family in some ways. Lots of hospital time for me and sister. Sister broke up. Brother's had some issues. And mom and dad have been amazing through everything. <3
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
There's one person in particular I can think of, but I won't go mentioning names. Never did anything to me personally, but I simply can't stand the personality and general attitude of the person in question.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, hospital bills and other bills that always turn up.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I really don't think I did. It hasn't been that kind of year.
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
None. Music doesn't speak to me in that way.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) Happier, because my health is so much more stable that I actually have the energy to feel something, b) about the same, possibly a bit fatter, because around this time last year was when I stopped being able to really eat, b) about the same.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. School, maybe (but I'll give myself a pass on that on account of the health issues).
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being sick. Worrrying.
20. How will you be spending/did you spend Christmas?
Home alone mostly. Amazingly quick visit to the ER with sister, she had fractured ribs this time.
22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
Love is probably too stong a word, and I just generally hesitate to use it, but... sort of, yes.
23. How many one-night stands?
Well, a one night stand is defined as having sex with a person once (or, well during one time anyway, I suppose it could happen multiple times then), yes? And never doing it again. In that case, none.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
I watched amazingly little TV during the whole year. Though I did re-watch a few old TV series, like Highlander <3.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I can never really muster the energy to actively hate anyone, at least for long. But I am sort of disgusted by at least one person that I didn't even know before 2011.
26. What was the best book you read?
And... goodness. I don't even remember what books I read. I must have read some. I don't know. :/
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ha! I discovered I do occasionally have actual opinions about music? Total surprise to me anyway.
28. What did you want and get?
A new home. Officially moved in the first day of 2011. :D
29. What did you want and not get?
Sister happy and healthy.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I haven't watched all that many new ones. I did really like X-men: First Class.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
28 and pretty much the same I'd do any other day, which is nothing much really.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Lot less health issues all around.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Oh, dear. I don't think there was one.
34. What kept you sane?
My family. Like always.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most
I don't think about celebrities like that or really care about them much one way or the other. But if I have to pick one, I'll go with Jensen Ackles.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't really follow politics.
37. Who did you miss?
Janne.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I got reacquainted with quite a few people, or got to know them a bit better or something. But not that many totally new people, at least one that would qualify as an answer for this. I guess I really do have to say Markku.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
Spend time with people you care about while you can, you never know what will happen.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life
I've loved them all"
