My Most Recent Shame...The Original Star Trek!

Ok, so I came to enjoy the wonders of the Sci-Fi TV genre kinda late (seriously, it was the Battlestar Galactica miniseries that started it off).  Now I am a fan of SG-1, Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Farscape, etc.
The one really nice lady that I work with lived had 3 sons and grew to love the genre.  I got her hooked on BSG and Firefly.  She told me that I had to watch Star Trek.  I was a little hesitant because of the laughability of William Shatner as Kirk, but I gave it a try.  And now...I am a fan of the Original Series.  I am planning on watching the other series of Star Trek, but I thought, why not start at the beginning?!  They are hilarious!  I have watched most of the first season and am just starting the second season.  I watched an episode this morning and couldn't stop laughing!  It was the one with the Gorn (sp?)...lizard guy that Kirk has to fight to the death.  It was so cheesy that I just couldn't stop laughing.  Then there was an episode where Bones wouldn't stop smiling (something to do with a machine that controlled everyone).  I love Bones...but it was creeping me out how he kept smiling.
Aside from the bad special effects (I know it was done in the 60s and was mostly considered cutting edge), the stories are decent and the characters are likeable.  I can't wait to get home and watch the next episodes that I just picked up from the library.  Only 3 more hours to go!

television, star trek
