So here's the thing

Aug 12, 2005 02:36

I really think that I only resort to writing in this thing when I am feeling very introspective and nervous about the current goings on, am very pissed off about stuff, or really dont ever want to forget it. I'm sure that this plan is flawed considering that I don't know what role my LJ have as I get older, seeing as I barely use it now and that's really only to find out what's going on with my friends at home and such. I want to take this past weekend and stick it in some impregnable, locking area which I can access any time that I want. Normally I would trust myself to remember this weekend as much as I remember any weekend that ever happens, but I really think that this weekend holds a special place for me. As I write this, I realize that I don't often get emotional like this, as Josh is so helpfully reminding me, but on that note, I think I'm entitled to a couple of moments every once in a while so everyone who doesn't want to read my happiness can stop right now and eat my ass.

I've realized over the years, not just recently, that I tend to have a good sense of character, and that my friends are almost always solid people that I would definitely bend over backwards for if they needed help, and they would do the same for me. It's nice to know that when those times come, my friends are there to help me out too. On Thursday, Rae and mom took me to the airport, which was awesome of them, considering it was 7 something and that Rae usually doesnt wake up until like 4 in the afternoon. I got to my plane in plenty of time despite having to empty me pockets of the tools of terror like lighters and my pocketknife, which i always have on me at all times. Then Josh came and picked me up at the airport, which was awesome of hime considering that plan was like 15 hours old at that point and it was really short notice to swing the car from his mom, which she was awesome about. Then we had a great meal that left us both stuffed from Mongolian BBQ, and then I got a milkshake from Tommys, which, BTW, I lost the cup somewhere, so who knows if I'll ever see it again, its either in Medina, cleveland, canada, cincinnati, or here in kentucky. Afterwards, we spent a good amount of quality time doing what we do best, sitting around with Ashley and Juliette, fingering them to our heart's content, until we got bored with that and went outside to play some vicious games of Bocce, and one blind game of frisbee with Jacob, his brother. I still contend that I shouldn't be penalized because he nailed the white ball out of the yard, and I further contend that I had the best bocce shot of all time and should own the world in bocce. Then after some finagling and loose planning with Katie, we made our way to see Sky High, because we are cool and we are not ashamed that we saw a superhero movie at 1030 at night. This was halfway between medina and mayfield heights, which was nice that I could make it to Katie's Thursday night and not cause a problem by being an unexpected guest overnight in Mayfield. I was struggling to stay awake during the movie, although I think it had the most attractive girls in it in pretty much any movie I've seen in a long time... especially the redhead... mmmm.... Anyway, afterwards, we decided tha Valley View was too small and everything closes to early for us to sit around and get a bite to eat, but that was not without its own set of excitement. Katie, on the way out, decides that she doesn't like the way some guy is looking at us, so she says hes ugly and can wait for us to leave, not realizing she just said it into his open window. So we tried to make it out of there as fast as possible, with that ugly guy giving us the dirtiest looks and gestures of all time. The rest of the ride home was pretty uneventful and not that long, but when got back we were both exhausted. We talked for like a total of a half hour, then realized that we were both beat and needed to go to bed.

Friday started with me sleeping through I think every single member of Katie's family walking by me at least one time, in some cases two or three times, and me sleeping through every single second of it. Not until the cat crawled between my legs and decided to nest there did I wake up. Now, keep in mind that they had not seen me the night before, so I just kind of appeared there during the night. I woke up when Joe and Katie's mom came in from their walk with that big gorgeous dog of thiers, and we had bagels for breakfast and sat around and talked until Katie woke up. The objective of the day was to bake a cake and pick up a hair straightener for Mere's bday that was actually quite a while ago, but who am I to argue with making a cake? and bread? and cheeseburgers? and eating olives? We went to the grocery store all still in our pajamas and such, and being the large 4 year old that I am, I had to walk through the aisles saying, "Bueller, Bueller..." since that was the name of the grocery store we were at. God that still makes me smile, I think it means I'm a big loser. After we left the grocery store, we went back and made some bread, some cake, and I taught KAtie's little brother that you need the spatula to eat cake batter out of the bowl, not just some spoon. We had a good time fighting over that bowl for a while, and my white shirt still has the chocolate to show from it. Then we went to the store again, this time to pick up the hair straightener and some cables for the PS2, because animals are dumb and like to chew through electrical cords. We came back, and I tried to convince Katie that a nice Jewish girl like Mere would love Santa paper for her bday present, but alas, she used bday paper instead and we talked with her mom about school and harry potter, and all sorts of random things. Shortly thereafter, dinner was started and Mere and Eli showed up in the little gold car, which I did not think we were taking to Canada, but oh well, who knows and it all worked out at this point. They came in and after a lot of overdue hugs and kisses and asspats, we headed inside and caught up for a little while, helping make dinner and then eating a lot of it. Meanwhile, my man crush Babos calls, and Katie gives him quite possibly the most convoluted directions of all time, and he definitely takes like an extra half hour to get to us, although it was more hugs and catching up when the teen wolf did finally show up. We ate some cake and ice cream, sat around the table, and then went into the den to play a game of scene it, of which we all stunk pretty badly at. After a while of doing that, we sat around and answered random questions from the game, and just pretty much continued catching up and bullshitting with each other. Entirely before we were ready call it a night, Babos departed due to him having to work in the morning and therefore the reason he could not join us in Windsor. We all realized we were big losers and went to bed because we normally get up for work and we are responsible, except for Eli that is.

Saturday brings me waking up for work yet again, which is entirely too early for my liking. I sat up and talked to Katie's mom for a while, which never disappoints because there's so much to talk abouth with just about any member of that family, it's nice. We went and got bagels for breakfast again, and then proceeded to wake up everyone else damn close to 11, one of the times we had agreed to leaving at the night before. Oh well, shit happens. We all sat around and had a nice leisurely breakfast, eating bagels and cheeseburgers from the night before. Then we slowly got ready as Katie tried to prevent us from leaving since she still had a couple of hours left until she went to work and as tempting as it was, we still had to get on the road to go to Windsor. The trip started out interestingly enough, seeing as we couldn't find the road to leave Katie's neighborhood. Finally we got on the road, and cruised until we hit some like 10-15 mile backup on 75. Bullshit that was, so Eli and I decided that we should get off at the nearest exit and try to get back on the highway once we passed it. This worked only after reassuring that we were on a road that was gonna take us back to 75 from my parents, who, up to this point did not know that I was going to Windsor with my friends. Oh well, not a big deal to me at least. We still had to go through some of that backup, but not for long, and the trip northward continued. Finally, we got into Detroit and to what we thought was the tunnel to canada, and after dissing on sheldon for a while, THANKS SHELDON, we finally did go through the tunnel, which made it feel like we had turned around and gone back to MI. We ate a pretty good meal at the tunner BBQ, thank you sheldon, and made our way to our hotel with no real incident. We checked in and got ready to leave for the casino, which included a lot of ironing done by many different people. Finally we got out the door and to the casino, where after the ritual checking of multiple forms of ID, we were finally allowed to go in and get our gamble on. We made our way up to the poker room, and after only a couple hours of playing, I once again left the room having made some money. This, of course, doesnt mean I left the casino with money, considering I sat down and played let it ride until my profits went right out the window... oh well, i wont gamble with what im not willing to lose, so its all good. Finally, we met back up with Mere and some of her friends from Cinci in front of some hotel, and they had been drinking already, so naturally Eli and I had to catch up. This means as soon as we hit the first bar, which we got into for free thankfully, we had a couple rounds of shots, and then a couple beers. Then some more shots, another beer. Then we decided to get a cuban cigar, walk to another bar, get some cigarettes, and who knows what else. While we were waiting to get into another bar, there were some guys standing behind us on the streetcorner for like 45 minutes. At first I thought they just didn't know where to stand, or they were too drunk to function, but then I found out that they were actually just talkin to some girl in a window of a club across the street. Oh well, their wasted time, not mine. Finally, we went into the other bar, then drank some more shots, some more beer, and went back to the first bar. More shots for me and another beer, then I did a shot with some girl from TN who was up there with her friends before they went back to school. She also lived in Louisiana, so we talked for a little while, until her friend came up and was nasty, so Eli wouldn't touch her, and then some old old guy came up and started buying them drinks and the nasty friend took this girl away, so we just left and went to another bar, where we met some guys who told us that almost the entire bar was from sterling lake MI or something and that we should try that with the girls. Well, about a pitcher and a half of Long Island Iced Tea later, thats what I did, and ended up dancing with and talking to this girl from sterling lake for a while. Then we left and returned yet again to the first bar and found out they had run out of my beer, so we left and went to the last bar of the night, which highlights consisted of them having the biggest beers of all time. Almost a small pitcher in one glass. Some girl begging us to find her flip flops or something, and finally, some girl getting rammed from behind right in front of me on the dance floor, since there was a bar all the way around it, she was holding on, and I was talking to her the entire time which quite amused me. Then we got a hold of Mere and went down to this garden along te river and peed into the river to mark out territories. I actually peed over and on a big boat bumper which was a huge tire, but Eli was in some walk way and actually peed right into the water. We then went into Mere's friends hotel, where these two girls I had met at the beginning of the night and they had blown me off at the end of the night finally realized that they did know me, but I wasn't having any of it. I started talking to the poor girl at the hotel desk who was pretty much dealing with drunks all night as it was for like half an hour, and she called us a cab back to hotel. One was already heading to the hotel, and out of it got two VERY scantily clad girls, one of which Eli told to put some clothes on. Well that started a whole commotion with her yelling at him and him laughing in her face, but whatever, it was actually true and quite entertaining. We got followed by a cop for a while and the cabbie told us to sneak into our seatbelts because apparently you need them in cabs in Canada. Then, as we pulled up to the stop light, the cop left us alone, so we looked out the window and saw some dude puking his guts out all over the side of the SUV he was in, and as we laughed, he looked up at us, smiled, and told us that drinking was bad and we shouldn't do it. His friends thought the entire thing was a riot, which it was. Apparently those girls before us had a pretty bad night, with the almost naked one losing her purse with her ID, phone, and assorted other crap in it, which would probably hamper her re-entry into the states. Again, funny to us, but a problem for her. We got back to the hotel, and I was too drunk to get into pajamas, so I walked around and got ready for bed except for changing, which is why I'm fully dressed and Mere is in her pajamas already in our picture. Finally I did brush my teeth and get to bed, yelling at Mere because she didn't feel well and I was my usual lovable drunk self, just wanting to cuddle with her. She wouldn't and apparently I went to bed mad at her, but I don't think I was capable of being mad at that point.

The next morning, I almost committed homicide to the dude who banged down our door at 9 AM and asked if we had called for a luggage cart. Literally almost crucified the guy. I was so mad. But I went back to sleep until like 11, when the wake up call came. We all got ready and hauled ass out of that hotel room by 12 so we weren't late, and I discovered that my toothbrush tasted like every single thing I drank the night before... nasty. WE got in the car and made our way back to the states as quickly as possible... or so we thought. Mere decided that she felt good and wanted to drive, and so after the hour that we waited on the bridge, she found out the perils of driving over the border. Some asshole customs officer decided to give her shit because he was asking vague questions and she was giving very basic answers. He definitely was just trying to scare the shit out of her and I would guess that it worked a little bit, she was pretty shaken up for a couple minutes afterward. Some things that we learned the the customs officer told us: 1 when someone says "where did you go?" they want the entire trips rundown from start to finish, including every single restaurant and bar that you went to, even if they can see it from the wristband you are still wearing. 2 The penalty for giving simple basic answers to vague questions at the border, or lying if you were this assbag, carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison. I don't know if that's Canadian or American prison since we were still in Canada. 3 Don't let big busted girls drive into the states when there are clearly less innocent looking people in the car, they assume your smuggling something. The rest of the drive home was fine. We made fantastic time due to eating a lot of food, possibly the most food of all time, and Eli driving. We stopped in Columbus and almost ate dinner, but I was still in no shape to be eating, saw Alana for a couple minutes, and hauled ass back to Cinci. The rest of the night we hung out with the Kahans, including two of the sexiest women I know, laid out Mere and Em's pimp ass dorm room, and shot the breeze with Sam and Sandy O, which is always entertaining. Then we went to bed since Mere had work in the morning, and I can totally relate to having to sleep due to working early in the morning, it fuckin sucks my balls.

The next morning was pretty quiet. I got up, chilled with Brenda, and showered, played some Xbox with the boys and sleepily said bye to Mere, which was kind of sad. Then my parents showed up and the Kahan parents and us went to the Montgomery Inn and had some damn fine ribs and chicken and chips for lunch. Then we traveled to Kentucky and since then, I've been chilling at Grandma's, eating and fishing and sleeping, but not much else. Kind of anticlimatic considering this past weekend, but not a bad deal at all...

So if you actually read all that, I commend you, since it's long as hell and took several days to finally get down on paper, well computer. Anyways, this is for my benefit only, and I share it with you because I can and because it was requested. Tahnks guys for making this weekend one of the best weekends of my life. It was unforgettable, and now even that much more unforgettable.
