Honestly, I do not understand why 55 million people would vote for Bush. I will leave it at that. I do not know what to think of a country that would purposefully elect George Bush to be president for four more years. I really don't. I am not saying that to make a point. I really don't understand it.
I stood out until 3:00 AM at the Kerry rally at copley square. I must have been out there for....4 hours? 5 hours? It was weird, I am glad I did it but I don't think I had a good time really. Sheryl Crow played. Bon Jovi played. Some choir sang....and then it was silent. We all watched CNN on big screen TVs. We all watched as the news came in. We all watched as the rain came down harder. We stayed. We prayed. We hoped.
Then Edwards came out. He came out and told us to go to bed. He told us we could wait another day. He told us there was hope.
Why? Why do you re-elect Bush? What the fuck is wrong with you? No, its not over right now but my spirit is sore. My spirit is as sore as my body from standing in a crowd for hours...waiting, hoping...
What a joke we are to the World. How powerful we are, how smart we are, how sophisticated we are. We can't even elect a president. How long will it be? 10 days? 11 days? A month? I firmly believe that the country and world will be worse off with four more years of Bush, but it would have been better if there was a clear-cut winner. Our polarized nation will now just become more bitter. If Bush is to win now, it couldn't be any worse. It'll be the 2000 election all over again. Bitterness. Anger. And even if it goes to Kerry. He wouldn't have won the popular vote. It would hardly be fair.
I don't know what to think. This is so ridiculous.
The good news? No more Benson. Thank God. If it had been a benson and bush washout, I probably would have cried. Benson is dangerous. Maybe he is a good businessman but he's a terrible, corrupt governor.
This reminds me so much of four years ago. I stayed up until 6:00 in the morning watching TV, staring at Florida. This year, good work Florida, way to give it to the president who fucked you over last time. Good job. You motherfuckers.
Now, Ohio. The new Florida? Maybe by morning this will be over. I hope it isn't. Drag out the torture. I need hope. Hope is my life support.
